Megapixel count will keep increasing as it's a good marketing tactic. Uneducated people think that more megapixels = better photo, but that is not the case.
And instead educated people know that more megapixels = ability to use the digital zoom (with moderation) and still get decent pictures. I want either of those things: (a) a 12Mpx camera, or (b) the usual 5Mpx, but with a 3x optical zoom. And please, please do not use a wide angle lens like the one in the N86, which actually negates the advantage of having a 8Mpx sensor. I'd also like both xenon and led flashes, the first for pictures and the second for video.

yea, i wish people would shut up about megapixels.
5 is the limit on a phone, unless it's a massive brick with a huge sensor chip far away from a big lens.

the voice recognition to be added to. I have found the voice recognition works quite well with my voice, but it is limited. For example, I can say "calender", but I can't say "calander - new appointment - this friday 7pm - with Helen at the cinema"
even with the keyboard, adding appointments with who/where/when takes a couple of minutes, and when your already doing something or on the move, that is a long time.

as far as megapixel count i would think that 5 is enough, just the optics and cmos(or whatever its called) need more work ![]()
in future flagship we would need something to awe people, not just more numbers like people here are drooling about ![]()

I agree with witeshade.
I dont think people understand megapixels properly. The higher the megapixel only means that if you print the image to super large size the image is not stretched so quality is not lost. A 3.2 Megapixel photograph can be printed up to around 11x14 without losing much quality, which is well over a large photograph size.
12 Megapixels in phones is actually quite rediculous, the size of the image is huuuge. You can print over 30x44 inches an image, which is about the size of a wall painting. It does not need to be this big. I personally think that the only reason that they have these specs is becuase it sells. Regardless of anyone actually using the full 12 Megapixels to its full potential.
What i would like to see in the nokia N98 or successor the the N97 is a better quality lens. A Bigger lens that can let in more light. A more modern interface. A Slide out keyboard again (love this) and a little trackball/mouse device thing like the HTC phones.

IMO the N98 or whatever doesn't have much need to start piling on more features and hardware upgrades. They need to divert the hardware development money into developing the operating system.
Look at the iPhone, it's doing extremely well, but the hardware is average at best. It does so well because the interface is widely regarded as excellent. And what it does; it does very well.
It's always frustrating that getting a Nokia to work properly involves trawling through tonnes of configuration menus, until you ultimately find that what you want to do, cannot be configured!
Every time an S60 phone comes out it's "This doesn't work", "I can't get xyz to function". Apples mantra is "It just works", perhaps Nokia needs to think about that one and have something which is easy to use and 'just works!'
