You should just have to type it in on the standby screen :smileyhappy:

Re: unlocking n95

Hi smalldog

Was it sent to you as SMS or by letter?

I remember getting a long string in a letter from T-mobile.

Has it got +pw and a number string?

Contact them again and ask? Not sure, and not seen anything about it for N95's here yet, guess not many people have tried yet.

Re: unlocking n95

Could be worth contacting Nokia directly, or through your nearest Nokia Service Centre although it's not something they support, they may be able to advise you :smileyhappy:

(have you tried putting *# at the beginning and # at the end? - just a guess, I don't want to be responsible for anything going wrong :smileyhappy: )

Re: unlocking n95

Hi smalldog

Have you tried starting it up with SIM to different network to lock until you get invalid SIM and then try again?

Re: unlocking n95

Hi smalldog

If you'd gone that far I might have suggested putting +1 after the string but i'm worried NOW that you may use up all your tries and lock it up!

Re: unlocking n95

Vodafone should have advised you to enter the code with NO SIM inside, as for number format, who knows?

Hi Smalldog,

I am not sure of these instructions will work, but tis is what I received from Orange when I got the code to unlock my N70.

--------------------
Important Note: Please only attempt to enter the procedure once. Should you encounter any problems please don’t hesitate to contact Orange Customer Services.

Please enter either an Orange sim card or no sim card at all

Press the # key
Press the * key 3 times – this will produce a ‘p’
Press the * key 4 times – this will produce a ‘w’
Press the * key twice – this will produce a ‘+’
Enter in: -15 digit unlock code-
Press the * key twice – this will produce a ‘+’
Press number 1 (for code 1)
Press the # key
“SIM Restriction Off” or “Phone Restriction OFF” should briefly appear on the screen and the handset will re-set itself.

Your handset has now been successfully unlocked

You can usually ask for the unlock code for a phone once you have fulfilled your contractual period with the network.

However, I say usually as there are other "special" occasions where they may supply the unlock code, ie if you have a foreign mobile contract becuase you work abroad alot etc but wish to use the same handset.

There normally is a monetary charge; typically £15 - £25.

Once you receive this code, then you go through the procedure as stated above.
