Re: transfer speed on n95 8gb

I am afraid its not going to increase! i have used N95 8GB for almost a year, got a brand new pc with usb 2 but the transfer speed was slow right from the start, tried it on a Linux Distro, copied 50 mb file, it gone from 0 to 35 almost in 4 second and then stopped there, never finished!

in short i thin you a stuck with that transfer rate! (if i m correct)

Re: transfer speed on n95 8gb

Yes you are right in specs it is v2.0 miniUSB, and on 5800 XM it is v2.0 microUSB, on 5800XM i m getting 5 MB/s so i don't know whether its "mini" and 'micro" difference or b'coz N95 8GB's on board memory vs 5800XM's SD card, i m not sure!

by the way i am using Sandisk 8GB on 5800XM

This is meant to be a user to user forum and not an official Nokia support site, hence you get other users trying to help you from their own experience. There are Nokia employees here but they are here in their personal capacity and you don't always get replies from them. Best bet if you want an official answer from Nokia is to use the "Contact us" tab to the top right of this screen.

Re: transfer speed on n95 8gb

I'm afraid that the N95 8GB only transfers at the achingly slow rate you're experiencing. I'm not sure if it's the memory itself or the USB bus on the device, but you might be better off trying to transfer over wi-fi or something.

Re: transfer speed on n95 8gb

My reasoning didn't get that far. Is Home Media on the phone? That should work for pics and music at least.

Re: transfer speed on n95 8gb

You have to be running something like Windows Media Player 11, and tell it to share your media on the network.

Re: transfer speed on n95 8gb

i just tried symsmb 4.0 and transfer via wifi is just 550 kb per second so even slower than usb. :smileysad: still waiting for the answer why n95 8gb don't use usb2 speed transfer. thank you.

Here is the reason as to why the old N95 8GB has slow USB transfer speeds:

http://www.n82blog.com/2008/02/nokia-and-usb-20-high-speed.html

Unfortunately if you want faster transfer speeds you need to buy a newer model. The S60v3FP2 models that came out after the N95 8GB (such as the N96) supported the USB 2.0 High Speed standard.

It's not possible to make the N95 8GB support this standard as it's a combination of age, software and hardware that prevent it from happening.
