hello nokians
just notice that when i play any media file the left speaker seems to be a bit muffled than the right speaker. Is this because its stereo speakers or there is actually something wrong with my phone?

Like when playing music i move the balance to the left side and compare it to the right, they both sound different. The right speaker sounds more crisp than the left.

Is this the case with your n97?

Sounds like a problem with the speaker.

Normally when they go, they start to sound muffled and rattley

If you search the forum you will find that other people have had this issue.

If one speaker is significantly different to the other then it has either been damaged or is failing. If it's only a little bit different this could just be natural variance.

If it is faulty you will need to visit a Nokia care point for a repair.

Thanks for your replies, yes I think mine is damaged as I have dropped it quite abit though i just assumed it withstood the damage apart from cosmetic damages haha.

I think i'll have to pay for repairs as my warrenty is expired. Its weird, the Nokia Care Centre has shut down near my area.

I mean its not that noticeable when i play stuff, but when i hold it upright and cover the right speaker, then I can hear a difference which is quite annoying

It's a case of you'll either have learn to live with it or pay for a repair. The choice is yours alone.
