Hello, I had similar problem after connecting phone to computer via cable with Mass storage mode. As far as computer was infected therefore my mobile's file system was destroyed by virus. I recover everything by full reformat of phone and flashcard.
Therefore, please use full reformat sequence "green"+"red"+"photo" buttons during the phone booting. But, remember, that all data, settings and installed software will be removed from phone. I made a backup first.
Regards,
Andrey

What you say there isn't actually possible to be the true case. When connected in mass sotrage mode, the PC doesn't have access to the phone, only the memory card, which appears to Windows as an external drive and is invisible to the phone OS until the connection is severed or the connection mode changed.
It is arguably possible that a file containing a virus could be transferred from the PC to the memory card this way, but no virus from Windows could infect your Nokia phone because the Symbian OS is completely different to Windows. You should also be aware that there are presently no recorded viruses for the S60 5th Edition OS of the 5800, and the only way a 'trojan' could get in would be if you installed cracked software or an application from a questionable source.
Your issue might have been caused by simple data corruption, but not a virus. People have become so paranoid because of the inherent security weaknesses of Microsoft software that they are far too ready to blame everything that goes wrong on other types of device as a virus.
