I called Nokia USA sales today to ask about the blank status issue. I was told they are updating the web site because they are getting ready to ship. Does it take a week to update status? Mine has been blank since 29 September.

I was also told I would receive an e-mail after my payment was processed and a tracking number assigned. Once I had that e-mail I would be able to know what day to expect the N8. I was unclear if another call Nokia USA sales would be required to get the tracking number or if it would be included in the e-mail.

My main concern, that the blank status meant a dropped order, has been laid to rest. My statusless order is still effective.

I too have the blank status, but in the UK we have been e-mailed to advise us preorder customers we will receive our handset within the next two weeks.

Really they should have said after two weeks, as the day they have mentioned on the site is the 15th and thats a Friday so no hope of receiving it until after the weekend.

I received an e-mail 20 minutes ago from Nokia USA. My N8 is in process and the Nokia site reflects this. I'm pumped.

Anyone can pre-order online from the nokia uk store now ??

the 15th is when those pre orders start shipping with those who ordered first being the first ones out of the door,

Then there is still a week before the other UK retailers will be selling them

1. lol maybe not, but they might have nothing more convincing to tell you (I think that was the best excuse available).

2. No, they would advise you in an email if your order was dropped.

I really feel for you, mine was shipped direct from Finland and received on the 6th (5th if I'd been in to sign for it lol). Only reason I think I have mine early though is because I'm part of a research type group!!

But I do keep getting conflicting reports from people here saying that some shops (i.e.. Vodafone in my area) have a few in stock that there were offering to people! Don't believe it myself as one of the people in question is an IPhone lover hehehe!!

On the plus side, I haven't encountered any problems with mine, it has frozen on 1 occasion, and I was unsure what to do as it wouldn't turn off and with there being no battery access. But by checking on these forums I found the reset, hold for 8 seconds solution, and it was back to normal immediately!!! All good, glad I have this one now, as I'd kept with my N98 8gb for the last 4 years, and had no problems with that one either, and it's now in the drawer for a backup (hopefully I won't need it)!!!

Will keep my fingers crossed for you that yours arrives very soon :-)
