I think it will do. The best thing to do is to use your WLAN only when you need it.

Go to Settings - Connectivity - Wireless LAN

Then select the options menu and from there go to settings. Where it says "Show WLAN availability" select "Never".

 

If you want to connect to the WLAN you will need to come back here and enable this option manually.

You can also set the WlAN APs to "always ask"
