the device now just loads a white screen then red black bars white screen green black bars white screen blue black bars(not in sequence) and then nothing.... what to do

You cant get past the white screen to the dialler? hmm, try removing the battery for 5min and boot it up without memcard.

If it works memcard corruption is the cause.

If it doesnt work, you'll have to go to the Care Center.

wont get past the bars then it stops if i connect the charger then it cycles indefinitely

I have had a similar problem and was caused by a corruption in the file system of the memory card.
As another user has recommended you, I've solved it by removing the battery and memory card, and then powering up without the memory card.
To recovery important data on the card, you can use a card reader on your PC and then you must correct the file system with a some tool, or format it to fat32.

i called nokia care centre (30 mins on hold 2 calls no one answered) they told me that my phone was defective that no one has seen that problem befor for the 5530 

yes i did try what the first user said did not work i left it a day with out its battery i drained its reserve power then pluged it in nothing then i did with the battery in... nothing neither the memory card nor the sim were in. which sucks now i will be close to a month without my phone.... and i had to pay for the shipping... when i had the iphone(aweful device but very flashy) i replaced it 3 times... and all the times apple sent me the replacement for free.... why cant nokia do that... nothing against the REPs at nokia but please put people more tech savy about their own products on
