new iPlayer update for N97

I've just installed the iPlayer update as promted when opening the app today.  Now it doesn't recognise my device as a Vodafone network and won't allow me to stream programs without a WiFi connection.

Any ideas what might have gone wrong and how I might be able to rectify it?  Would installing the previous version of the app help?

Go into options in browser, select settings, general and set connection to contract WAP, should sort it, ps it will only work with a good 3G connection.

You're welcome, it's only compatible with Voda and 3 and needs WAP to identify the service provider :smileywink:

Re: new iPlayer update for N97

Well I made an interesting discovery today (makes a change with this **bleep** phone...)

After getting really annoyed that my iPlayer app wouldn't work or connect at all I used the web browser to navigate to the actual iPlayer website to see if there was an update, and I was surprised to find that the actual website works fine now on the phone, and works a lot better than the app does / did.

So I'll not be bothering with the app from now on, just saved the site as a bookmark in my web browser.

Re: new iPlayer update for N97

The new 'app ' is simply a link to the web site, there is no longer a widget available and the mobile site has simply been optimised for mobile use and shouldn't be any different to simply going to the mobile site via web browser as that is in effect what you're doing anyway !

No widget available - does that mean "for the home screen"? If so, that answers what I wanted to ask.

Re: new iPlayer update for N97

Also, is there a good way to set it so that iPlayer always uses the WAP, but all other browsing uses the Internet (Destinations)? Or, is all Internet use OK in Vodafone WAP? I use some things that are only allowed on the 5GB Broadband via the handset.
