marcbyron wrote:I am having issues with MfE. None of the reset methods worked. I tried the*#7370#, hard reset (pressing the 3 keys when booting), formatting E drive. And my MfE account settings were STILL there. Where are they saved?
My problem is that after installing Fw2.0 and do all the resetting described above, MfE is not syncing my calendars anymore.
How can I do a 100% wipe of the N97, so it's in it's original state?
That should have done it. Have you also tried a *#7380# to make sure your settings are wiped?
If you have a memory card in your phone, remove that too and try the reset.

You probably meant *#7780#. Didn't help. MfE Settings are still there.

After upgrading to V20 two days ago, I had only 8 MB on my C this morning. As soon as I connected my phone to the BT speaker in my car - I could not access the "Contacts" at all !! I got a message of "memory full" So I did a hard reset - *#7370# (is it a real hard reset ? ) and now I had 51.8 MB.
I installed the MFE with my one month calendar and 2600 contacts so the free memory on C was now 41.7 MB (still 5 times better than before the reset!
I hope I will now can get my BT hands free.

My operator is no longer showing up (ICE Costa Rica) as it used to be in the list when setting up the phone. Music wasn't showing any music, when the music was there, I checked my mass memory and it was all there, had to remove it manually and sync again.
I was also expecting that finally as announced when the N97 was going to be released, SKYPE, and internet radio app.
Thank you for your time and help, I appreciate it!!

Can someone from nokia answer why the hell is this firmware such a useless update?!?! who cares about kinetic scrolling! fine its a nice addition that u can find on even cheap models nowadays!!!
what about html support? what about phone stability? what about nokia messaging? what about increasing the memory?! what about a damn decent support for a flagship phone costing around 600$!!!!!
we waited for months just to get kinetic scrolling?!?!? nokia default tune still around, and the only silly answer Nokia comes up is that it goes on when the phone is low on memory!?!??! i mean come on!!!!!
fricken frustrating, irritating!!!!

I feel dissapointed too, I bought two N97, for me and my girlfriend, I hope you keep working on a new firmware update that comes available soon, and that it's worth $600.
Thank you for your time, patience and work, I appreciate it!!
Have a great day!

Good news on at least one front - SIP is Working:
Here is a guide that was put together in one place for a flawless install of SIP on the N97 using the V2 of Nokia's SIP settings (SIP VoIP 3.x Settings v2.0) that previously did not work:

It is possible that this solution might work for other phones other than the N97.
Enjoy!

After updating V2, the following bugs:
- Some album art that are already tagged are missing.
- When i play a mp3 in music player, press the END call button to go back to standby screen, press the album cover again to return back to music player and when i press the BACK button it goes back to the standby screen instead to the album/artist list.
- Using MAPS 3.01 is impossible, no fix, no gps signal, so i installed V3.03 via Beta labs. At least i have half gps signal, and as usually it cut off all the time, fix will take for 10 minutes. This bug is already in previous versions and has not been fixed. I thought Nokia promised MAPS 3.1 was included in V2.
Good things:
- Kinetic scrolling is responsive, but not smoother than iphone, but better than nothing.
- Playing large mp4 files: plays smoother and when i fast forward to a point, the screen got fixed in several seconds. In V12, the fix took for ages and sometimes hangs.
- The whole UI is faster than before.
- 1 click for double tap works ok, but only partially, at some points you still need to tap twice.
So far my findings.
Please note, after updating to V2, I hard reset the N97, then formatted the mass storage and finally done a hard reset again.

Bugs in V2:
- Still the Nokia tune.
- Dont know how to fix the album art, i already tagged them again, they are still not showing them.
- Sometimes the UI is awfully slow, and sometimes superfast.
- My bad about the 1 tap double click, seems its not a function, but a random luck
- The phone hanged 3 times within 48 hours

Rasmus, I wish I could give you more KUDOS for this post... it works awesome. A bit choppy call, but not bad.

I have just had the ''Slide to Answer'' bug for the first time since getting v20.
Got a call, slid my finger across the screen, answered it, then at the end of the call I see the number flashing away asking me to answer and the phone hangs there.
Remove battery to fix.
Nowhere near as often as before, but I have had it once.
Will keep you posted if it happens again - anyone else seen it?

Hi, Posted it already in a seperate thread, but to have a summary:
It seems, that Nokia has several issues with the Auto-Rotate funktion.
I think that everyone has the issue with the ringtone. I know exactly, when it happens.
If you have your N97 in a belt case, resting with the display to your body (on the side), sometimes the phone switches to landscape, even that it was locked in normal position before it was put it in the case. As soon as a call gets in, and I'll take out the phone, I can see the screen in landscape format before it switches back to normal and I can take the call.
As soon as this happens, the original nokia tune is played.
Second new bug I found:
You cannot change the time for the automatic keyguard setting. It's either on, or off, but no chance to enter any time interval.

I have had auto Rotate switched off from day one and it still did it - must say hasnt happened since v20

a small summary for the past 3 days...
firmware downloaded and installed... had to perform a hard reset after it to get it "working properly" so to speak...
bugs remaining:
* nokia tune ocasionally going on... im trying to see if it works by disabling the auto-rotation and by applying my favorite tune to voice calls as well as video calls... we'll c if it works...
* sometimes after answering a call and finishing, your phone gets blocked with a flashing signal of a received call... i think the only way around is to never answer by swiping the arrow to the right, but by unlocking the phone, then tapping to answer... plain silly...
* the phone still gets blocked for no reason... did it 3 times now... the usual batt. off ....
* no nokia messaging...
after hard resetting, the phone do function better but still ain't worth its' price.... sad ![]()

Just one thing I've experienced since updating to V20 (the Euro 1, 505 version).
After copying lots of files from PC to phone, the phone "froze" on the white screen with the blue Nokia logo.
If it had only happened once, I'd have put it down to bad luck, or personal imcompetence, but it's happened on both occasions I've done it, so here it is.
I connected via USB and selected PC Suite mode. I opened Windows Explorer (Vista) and copied about 5GB of music to the phone. When I'd finished I pulled the USB cable . The usual message flashed up on the phone's screen "Unplug to save power". When the message had cleared, the phone (apparently) "bricked". It went onto the white screen with the blue Nokia logo, and stuck there.
So, I'd copied across a lot of data via USB, and it locked the white screen.
I restarted the phone, took the battery out and restarted the phone, but it would only boot as far as the white screen with the blue Nokia logo.
Today the same thing happened when I copied across my "Downloaded apps". I keep all the apps I've downloaded in a folder called "downloads" for easy future backup, and possible re-install.
When I'd copied them all across, I pulled the USB cable and the same thing happened as before. It locked on the White screen with the Nokia logo.
Long story short(er). I thought I might have to do a 3 finger salute to recover, which would have been extremely annoying, as I spent hours rebuilding my setup after my update to V20.
Instead I did the following:-
Removed the battery for about 30 secs
Reinstalled the battery
Plugged the phone into the PC via USB cable - the white screen appeared, and eventually showed charging
Pressed the Power On / Off button, and kept it pressed down (for anything up to 30 seconds)
Eventually the phone started normally, but slowly
Removed USB cable
After the phone had fully booted I switched it off and on again to get a "clean" boot.
If it happens to anyone else, here is something to try before the big reset.
