so anyone know a date? october is already done and no v20.....
Since when did October only have 23days? Surely October isn't "already done" until after the 31st?
To answer the question: No one knows the exact date. It will be ready when it's ready and you'll be able to see that by the posts in the software section of this forum.

roll out dates of firmware v2
I like the way that site now states
"The above schedule is correct but the releasing date has been postponed according to Nokia UK Discussions"
Postponed?? How can Something be postponed that was never given a guaranteed release date anyway. And where was it ever stated on here that it was postponed??
why not just say. "OK. we started a rumour and we were wrong"
.

is n97 firmware 2.0 a rumour? all n97 users are waiting so badly for the update..... why nokia is not saying anything....why nokia is not confirming the final date.....
Of course it's not a rumour, it was demonstrated in public at Nokia World 2009. Nokia may not have an exact release date yet, just some time this month. In their defense, if they said they'd release it on the 20th of October and it didn't appear due to them finding a problem the public would be straight in and launching an offensive against them. Let them do what needs doing to make sure that 2.0 is ready for us and gives the N97 the ability to provide the experience everyone wants. Just be patient.

For a US$750 phone, the word "patient" sure got evaporated real quick.

It is already possible to use an N97 with a v20 firmware version on Nokia's Remote Device Access page. That usually means, according to other very trustworthy sources on the internet who I don't know and never spoken to or communicated with in any way, that the launch of the v20 firmware is imminent!!

I have to agree, my patience for this phone has just about gone.
Nokia should announce a release date for this firmware and if there is a problem that causes a delay they can revise the release date but making sure they provide the reasoning as well. The wall of silence from Nokia is just as frustrating as not being able to use the device as a functioning phone with all of it's features.

We've been abandoned at the moment, new phone getting released all the time and effort will be on it.
My thinking is that the same team that deals with the N97 will be dealing with the mini coz it's essentially the same phone and now that it's been launched they will get back to the N97 in the next couple of weeks
. Hope am wrong but that's how I see it. They made a few mistakes with the N97, i.e. meagre RAM and this will always haunt the N97. Even though we are stressing about V2.0 it might not even solve all our problems.

I confess I'm very annoyed by Nokia policy on fw upgrades.
Find a bug? Achieve multiple suggestions about misfunctioning on a leading device? Just roll on your sleeves and fix it out! Roll out a firmware upgrade every week, or every bunch of days if needed!
And all of these not concerning about hardware issues like memory (RAM) issues, lens cover, paint glitches and mainly a disastrous GPS reception, make it (the GPS) totally unusable!

What Version of OVI are you using? Should be Ver2.

Yes, Nokia are burning up a lot of consumer loyalty on the N97 rapidly - a point made quite well by Bobbie Johnston and commenters on an article for The Guardian (UK newspaper).
In short, I've had mine (an RM-505 unbranded) for less than a month and it is driving me loopy. Anyone who's been using Nokia handsets for as long as I have will tell you that the N97 is a leap backwards, lacks an intuitive interface (particularly important for upgraders) let alone common navigation and UI/UX design within applications, button graphics which are inconsistent and meaningless, and worst of all the sheer number of actions taken to perform some of the most mundane and basic tasking.
My latest issues is Ovi Maps, which is driving me insane thanks to the pathetic A-GPS chip which won't ever find a signal no matter how long its left outside. I experimented with the unit today, driving around for 6hrs and placing the unit on the dash or back parcel shelf - and it was never able to pick up a GPS signal at all.
Google Maps will pick up a signal (eventually, given at least 15min) - but I don't want to pay the data charges as its caching is pathetic, like being able to load map files to the device particularly since I have such spotty coverage when I'm in the countryside.
I'm at the point where I'm seriously considering selling the thing off at a loss, because its getting to the point where its intolerable and I don't want to invest the time in resetting it to factory and getting it back to how I like it.
Nokia - lift your game. I doubt any of your people who can change this situation read, participate or are even notified of consumer sentiment from these forums - but it would be nice to think that this happened and that all the prayers of disgruntled and aggrieved N97 owners might be answered soon.

@alexeiw123: Whirlpool (WP) thread for N97 discussion is here:
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t
Let's just say this, there's been a metric arseload of discussion on the N97 at WP and you'll go blind reading in excess of now 400 pages of posts on the handset there.
