When i change profiles on my n85, either by using the power button, or in the tools menu, my numberpad lights go out and don't come back on when i press a number button. It only does this when i change to certain profiles including silent and pager. The only way to get the lights to come back on is to close the phone, lock the keypad, unlock the keypad and re open the phone.

If i change profiles back to general, meeting or outdoor, the numberpad lights come back on again. What is causing my phone to do this? I have tried updating the software using my pc and have the newest version available. I also have reinstalled the software several times. I know it's not a hardware problem as like i said, if i change profiles back to general, the keypad lights come back on again.

it is most probably a bug in the firmware, the only solution to this issue would be to wait for a release of another fimware hoping that this might get solved, tho it does not have to. i had issues with the keypad on the frist firmware but that got fixed since v11....was released

I just hope it does get sorted out in the next firmware, it's such a stupid bug for Nokia phones to have. I mean they've had the profile feature on pretty much all the phones since my nan's 402!

Do you think Nokia will release a new n85 firmware?

yes i am sure of the fact that they will release a firmware update it's just a matter of when, it is impossible to know when exactly that might happen as nokia does not announce publicly their frimware release dates.
