I noticed forum posts and blog posts popped up today about a new N79 FW.

Updater and the Nokia support say my phone is up to date with the old FW currently installed.

Am I reading something wrong? Is this supposed new FW still not available despite the fact I see people already posting about it?

The firmware is available, but it takes time for Nokia to allow the firmware to be downloaded to phones with various different product codes from different parts of the world. Also, if you bought for phone on a certain Network, then you also have to wait until they approve the new firmware before you will be able to download it.

There is a delay while versions for particular operators are released, but also note that the N79 NAM is a different set of hardware with a different radio, so will likely take a little longer.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm new to the whole Nokia scene. I was an SE user for the longest time until they just kept releasing the same Walkman phone over and over with that horrible Fastport™ instead of a 3.5mm.

I was looking over the change log and I dont see anything really big pretaining to the current bugs that people complain about the most on the n79. The only gripe I have with it is the fact that the Screen Saver might as well not exist. It gets shown for like 1/2sec and then disappears and doesnt always show when it should and so on.
