Some of the memory managers have an option to "compress memory" - use that, and it should free up a bit.

I tried this with Best Taskman but it didn't help. Actually I lost some more KBs.

Memory compression programs need to be used with caution. These tend to corrupt addresses and result in lost data and possibly "bad sectors"

Used one of those apps for several years on my SX1 with zero issues.

Maybe "bad sectors" was a bad choice of phrase? That implies true corruption of the memory via software, which seems very unlikely.

The aim of this "compression" is more like identifying parts of memory that are claimed as being in use, but not actually in use, and releases them.

What I meant was bad memory addresses. If CAS RAS rates are good
I guess there should not be supposedly used memory.

Its possible, but strikes me as being unlikely. Have you experienced such things? I remember frequenting plenty of Symbian forums whilst I was actively using my SX1, and never saw any mention of such occurrences. Not to say they can't happen though.
