can anybody help me i have a n73 it belongs to one of my customer he has a software issue.. the phone was freezing.. i tried to update it with the online firmware update from a nokia software.. after updating the phone wont turn on anymore.. can anyone help me about this issue.. thank you..

these firmware upgrades problems are expected ones

First of all, did you turn off the phone or remove the cable while it was updating the firmware? If that is the case, the firmware just got wrecked and you will have to take it to Nokia Centre for service. If that's not the case, you may want to remove the battery for 5 minutes, replace it back, plug in the charger and see if it charges the battery. The problem might be something close to troubleshooting. As long as your firmware is not effected.

maybe the cable got disconnected during the update. no cure for that except a trip to the nearest Nokia Customer service

You will need to take this to a CNSP.

Not every centre will be able to do it though as its not easily cured like a normal Sofware upgrade.
It involves different equipment that not all centres have.
So its best to phone the centre before you visit them.

I had the very same problem with my N73, the phone died. i followed the instructions faithfully, but it still killed the phone. I could not restart, restore, nothing..
had to bring it to Nokia service ctr to revive it.. with eveything lost!
Nokia should put serious warnings when using the online sw updating utility.. and thats the last time i will even want to attempt this myself.

I think the software updater does have warnings.
It tells you to back up everything first.
And to me, if it tells you to do that, then theres a chance that you will lose everything.

The software updater is fairly new for the end user and im sure we will be seeing many more problems like this.

ok guys, please be advised that upgrading N73 is not something everyone can do! Please view the software upgrade page completely before upgrading your phones. It is all stated there already.
Here is a quote from the page:

Hi,

I have a challenge in that my local NSC can not recover my N73 and they will not escalate it because the liquid damage indicator is red (OK, about 3 months ago I dropped it in a toilet but it was fine after I dried it out --- but it could be related I suppose)...

Still, I was wondering if we knew exactly what equipment the service centre needs in order to recover the stubborn ones? Again, mine failed mid-upgrade because of the poor connector but Nokia have their get-out clause of my little red square

sorry mate that little red squares the end for your n73 unless you can find an independent flasher

if youve changed product codes dont expect a miracle though they are very tricky to reflash once dead due to the chipset being changed and messed with

you dont change the product code you mask it over which isnt very good

when your phones dead itll be confusing for the software the flasher will use

its prob your only option though

flasher i knew wouldnt touch me mates phone due to the fact he changed the code as he said it wouldnt wrk

my friend let a different guy try

anyways good luck and avoid changing product code in future if poss and just visit your service centre for a reflash of generic software

i had d same prob..while gettin my firmware update,i removed my usb...the cell is dead ever since...

whn i went 2 a nearby nsc..they said d pcb was bent n nthng can happen...i rememba i had dropped d phone arnd 3 mnths ago..y r d  repercussion so late...n is my phone irrepairable... plzzz help me..
