Hello,

 all mm, sms and bluetooth messages (everything in the folder messages) has dissapeared. IFirst case- my phone crashed when I was receiving sms, second case- phone was out of battery and turned off when I was sending sms. Then, when I turned on my phone, all messages including sms, mms, bluetooth weren´t in message folder. i have the newest firmware. Does somebody know what the reason is? Or if I should claim it?

It's an intermittant issue with the n96 running v30

As you say it tends to occur when the phone either crashes when sending/recieving a message or when the battery drains with the messaging functions running

Were your messages stored on the mass memory, as this is usualy another precondition for the issue

All you can do is restore your mesages from your ovi / pcsuite backup  if you have made one

Are you sure the memory in use for messaging hasn't changed, ie from Phone Memory to Memory Card or vice versa?  This happens on the N97 after connecting to a computer.  The first time it happened I thought I'd lost everything but then realised the phone had switched to phone memory and all my messages were on mass storage.

Thanks for your answers.. So it seems it´s known issue of firmware v. 30 with no solution right now.. I have a backup copy of my data but i didn´t save messages, just contacts etc...

I tried to change the memory but it wasn´t that reason..but anyway thank you for your advice.

My contribution for this discussion is that it doesn´t depend if it´s C: memory or E: mass memory. Once happened with C:, once with E: Plus first time it happened with mass memory E: I was available to restore some data with relevant program Recuva. But those programs can´t get to "root" memory C:.

The latest version of Nokia's Ovi Suite (Ovi Suite 2) has recently come out of Beta.  It backs up the text messages nicely and allows a quick and easy restore.  I'd recommend using it if you don't already.  That way, if you sync regularly, you won't lose as much data.
