Re: lost lock code

You should take it to your nearest Nokia Service Centre with proof of purchase.

Assuming there's an update available... there isn't always.

Re: lost lock code

I think there is an option now to reinstall the firmware. At least this option was available last time I checked for an update for my N80. Anyway, that's a very clever way of resetting the lock code suggested by greggcl, and it saves you a trip to the Nokia Service Centre.

Re: lost lock code

i have another slight problem, i use an apple mac so the software doesn't work. I have tried soft windows but that just screws the whole thing! so it looks like a trip to the centre and a listen to their excuses why i am not entitled or that there is a forty quid fee, blah blah blah...

it won't stop me trying though!

much appreciation and a little love people

Sorry to hear that. I'm a Mac user myself and I got around it by getting an extra PC laptop from the office and installing PC Suite on it along with all the necessary bits and bobs to do the firmware upgrade... All you really need is an hour or two with a friend who has a PC and a fast internet connection. Bring your PC Suite CD down to him along with your cables and you'll be out of there by the time he's done watching the football game on TV. You can uninstall after you're done of course.

Re: lost lock code

Well, that isn't very smart, is it? I mean, what's the point of a lock code for your protection if anybody can unlock the phone using the Updater service?
