Id like to take this phone but the reason I would like it is to use the GPS to track my flights via the SportTracker software.

Its not on the list of phones on the download page of the SportTracker site

Does anyone either know if it is compatible or even better actually use it this way?

given some time it more than likely will be this phone is only out now in small quantities when the phone is more widley available im sure it will be available for it
hence this is why its not on site as its only just released

in the past on average with other phones how long has this taken - for them to be included in the ST system ?  does this apply to all gps S60 phones or only popular ones...

The N97 program for sportstracker should work on it. I have the sportstracker for n97 on my 5800. AFAIK its a generic s60v5 version.

Nokia does not hold sportstracker anymore but was transferred to another site. I dont know where the official site is, but this is where I got it:

Sports tracker is here: The version most likely to work with C5 is the non-touch version:

eg N79, 6730 etc.

Not the touch version for N97/5800.

You could always email them and ask them to add C5 to the list.

The C5 is right in the middle of the list of supported non-touch phones.
