Go to Settings-Connectivity-Destinations-Internet and then delete what ever access points you may have in there.  This should keep your phone from finding an access point to get to the web.

Re: how can i turn the internet off on the n97 mini

for starters you should disable your widgets on the main screen so they do not connect to the internet, you can do so by pressing options left hand button and removing them and closing all running apps that might need internet connection. did you try this already?

Re: how can i turn the internet off on the n97 mini

I unknowingly had this problem as well. One or more of my apps (like Nimbuzz) was attempting to connect every 6 hours or so. While I solved it by finding the apps and changing the settings (thanks to grschinon on here), I ultimately deleted the AT&T internet access point in destinations as all I wanted there was wi-fi access points.
If I have helped you with your problem in some way, please take a little time and hit the kudos button in my post. Without your feedback, I don't know if I am being helpful or should just be put out to pasture. :smileyhappy:

Re: how can i turn the internet off on the n97 mini

that is correct settings do no change based on region/country they are a part of the phone's os, hence its standard across the same model around the world :smileywink: you may have specific things added or removed based on your provider but that is a separate issue,.

Re: how can i turn the internet off on the n97 mini

Why would you buy an N97 without an unlimited internet bolt on for your mobile package

you will not get anything like a decent experiance out of the phone and would be much better off going for something cheeper with less features

Re: how can i turn the internet off on the n97 mini

lol that is not very unlimited i have done 600mb in 17 days which is not very much or a lot depending on what you need your phone for. :smileywink: i would definitely recommend internet plan (data plan) with any such phone so you can take full advantage of its features.

I have a 500mb monthly limit (Orange) and it seems to be OK. I make sure I download heavy stuff like big apps etc over wi-fi. Most pages are 0.3 mb or less, so that's about 50 pages a day. More if you only use sites optimised for mobile.

However Cloud apps like Spotify will kill you if you use them out and about without a decent data plan

True - AND I JUST SOAKED UP 2:5 MB JUST IN REPLYING TO THIS (THIS SITE CLEARLY IS NOT OPTIMISED FOR MOBILE BROWSING!).

SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS. CAPS LOCK SEEMS TO BE STUCK ON (USING THE DEFAULT BROWSER ON N97 MINI). ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THAT?

Re: how can i turn the internet off on the n97 mini

Hi, as previously mentioned in this thread ( and I've mentioned it before in others) it is pointless getting the N97 or any smart phone for that matter if you are worried about web browsing ! Mine is with VF and I have unlimited web, fair use applies, but I must spend at least a couple of hours per day on Facebook, email, accuweather, Nokiausers etc, and very often will watch news on BBC iPlayer ,via live streaming, for about 20 to 30 minutes at lunchtime most days. I have never been charged anything extra above my contract. Secondly, if you install a mobile friendly browser such as Opera mini, it is optimised for mobile internet and will use less data. If cost or availability of unlimited web is a problem to you, buy a more basic phone, and stick to calls and txt. You may have a problem if you try downloading huge files such as feature films(whichis not really what a phone is for) but otherwise mobile data is tiny, and you shouldn't have a problem.

Good Luck
