Hello everyone :-)

i just updated my phone to V 21.0.025 but not the way most of you are doing.

actualy first i installed Nokia software updater on my pc and checked for an update and it showed V 20 which i already got. after that i tried this one on the phone : Menu>Setting>Phone>Phone mgmt>Device updates

there i managed to connect to my local Wlan and BINGO! here it is V21 update ready to download...i downloaded it (3.5MB) and phone confirmed installation of new firmware and thats it now im running the latest fw on the phone.

as you can see nokia software updater on pc didnt show me any updates but via the phone itself there was one.

i hope it helps some of you to upgrade.

Its out released in India/Asia . I got it through OTA through WIFI internet.

Nuthing fancy in the FW but will make the fone quite fast....

Hi, I want to update my 5800 software to v21 but when i try to it asks me to define a new profile. I don't know any of the details for: server name server id server password session mode access point host address port user name password allow configuration auto accept all requests network authentication

Anybody has solution for this issue? I search through forums and found nothing that is working, I did hardreset but it didnt help either

yes, but the latest version is v20.012 :-(

same problem here. I need to update my v20 to v21 as some other forums explain that it should solve the Lock Code issues with upgrade to v20.

However, as this gentleman, I am just getting info that my mobile is already up to date with latest version, which is v20.

I live in UK.

(Ive been alway a nokia fan, but since my update to v20 and problems with lock code, pin code etc. I have to say:

nokia, Ive never be soooo dissatisfied with you as now)

everyone in uk should be able to upgrade to 21 via the updateer of the phone itself but not using nokia software updater installed on a pc. i

hamed jan, it didnt work. Still the phone says my mobile software is up to date (v20)

I have O2 contract for the coming 18 months, so I probably need to wait ages before they accept/release v21 update

when i tried to update the firmware via nokia updater on the PC , it says version V20 is the latest , did the same thing as Hamed _zabih (thanks for the tip)  and it worked i could upgrade to version 21 using my phone update instead .

upon updating i realised a few minor changes.

Plus point to upgrade  : screen change reacts slightly faster.

WIFI internet surfing is slight faster too. hooray!

You can set different " breadthing lights" for notification of missed calls, sms, and the duration of the notification lights

now you only can choose 3 sizes of font sizes... but this is no big deal , you just don't have default anymore which is quite useless to me

Bad thing about upgrading , some application might not work right anymore...

do not see any changes in camera quality??

i heard with V21 software you can edit songs ?? can't seem to find this option??

i heard that the icon now look more like the E series.. to me it's the same as Version 20 ... no difference??

 anyone find anything else that i have missed out for V21? what are your views?? happy with it?

farid jan,im sorry this trick didnt work for you but as i found out it still depends on your product id whether you can or cant upgrade. most of uk product codes now can be loaded by v21 . or maybe you are using a branded phone?

Hamed jan, many thanks for your reply. what do you mean with branded phone? The phone was part of a 24 months contract with O2 and doesn't carry any other brand than nokia xpressmusic. regards Farid

Dear farid , a branded phone is a phone you buy from a service provider(like O2) but not a nokia retailer directly however it is still a NOKIA made phone.

As i can see you purchanced your phone under a contract with O2 so it should be a branded one. A not branded phone is allways SIM free, in this case you have to wait until O2 confirms to release the latest firmware for its product codes.

btw branded phones are sold with a lower price than other ones.

I am using 5800 XpressMusic and I live in Hong Kong. I tried updating the firmware both through the PC as well as Over the Air but in both cases, it says the latest is 11.0.009

The latest which I observe is 20 something is not available in all the regions or what ?

I've installed v21 and now when i use my nokia bluetooth stereo headset, it always failing during a podcast, the sound comes out choppy sometimes, and wlan popup once in while. v20 was much better

For anyone that may have the prob I discribed, I think i found what app was doing it, it mas GoogleMaps, it has a Latidude feature, if its turned on, your phone will try to connect at any cost. With version 21 this started to work.

Jap  I too SO HATE THE v20 firmware.. having the phone over month now and the firmware update was the first thing when i fully recharged the battery..

I only had one freeze when i was playig MicroPool v5.05 but still i hate this firmware cause it lags too much the main thing that i hate the song cover art is very little...

Why the v21 firmware aint in europe yet? herd/read thet it finnaly fixes all these major bugs.. it is like 2,3 weeks now that it is announced in India..

NOKIA COMON! BE NORMAL, FINNALIZE THE v21 FROM SUPPORT OF INDIA AND FINNALY ANNOUNCE THE NEW FIRMWARE TO US IN EUROPE CUZ v20 SUC*S!!!

P.S. Living in Ireland & using sim free phone  - tried now reading the posts

in nokia software updater nothing and it still shows v20.0.012

and tried in phone (Menu>Setting>Phone>Phone mgmt>Device updates) and also nothing

So still waiting..

I'm living in Europe, Latvia and i just updated my phone to v21. So dunno what could be your problem.

It's just a case of different areas getting the update at different times.
