deleting the back up files after installing updated firmware in a Nokia 5800

Hi there

i am pretty new with these "so say" smart phones so go easy with me ;-)) In the settings for back up, i selected all, the back up took about 1minute, but no idea how much space it took on the E memory card. But my silly question is... they were backed up somewhere in the E memory but there are a lot of other files there to. I was thinking they would be easy to find and delete. Any ideas

Thanks for any info

Steve

It's actually wise to always keep a current backup on your memory card just in case one day your phone doesn't work. New backups always overwrite the old ones.

If you still want to remove them they can be found in a hidden folder on the memory card.

The folder is in the root of the drive and is called "backup".  Inside you will find compressed .arc files which are your backups.

The folder cannot be seen by the phones built in file manager.  It can be seen on a PC if you tell it to show hidden files.  It can also be viewed on the phone using software called x-plore, again with hidden files enabled.

Download x-plore here:

Just incase you are trying to look out for the backedup file then you may not get it with the embedded file manager. You will need to install x-plore, just google in and you will find for your phone. If you trying to say that some of the backedup things you made you want to delete then you cannot do this at all. The things which you dont want to keep then delete from your phone itself and make another backup.

Use the card in a reader, not in the phone.

I believe the phone protects those files.

I think you can straight away delete it through x-plore.
Just enable hidden files and in backup, you could remove all ticks from  the attributes. Now delete the backup file. Btw create another backup, it will replace the existing one. If nothing helps then use card reader as mentioned by psychomania.
