In most programs, after you select the text, if you hit "Option" then go Editing options, you will find selections for cut, copy & paste where appropriate.
Unfortunately, not all third-party apps are fully 5th edition aware and have this.
If that is the case, what you can do is simply close the keyboard, bring up the text entry screen, click on the button with the 3 horizontal lines (options) and you'll have the cut, copy & paste selections.

i have problems with the copy & paste function too.
To be exact: If i want to log into a WiFi hotspot, the phone asks for the encryption key (WEP or WPA doesn't matter). I have that key stored in a note, where i can copy it to the clipboard, but i haven't found a way to paste this key into the key prompt.... there neither is an option button, nor these "three lines"
Ain't there some kind of keyboard shortcut, like on S60V3 phones?
Does somebody have a solution for this?

I had some difficulty locating this 3 line icon myself.
Turns out that if you close the screen down and tap the input box on the web page you want to paste the text into, up pops an application (text entry I suppose, anyway it has a load of stuff, green tick top left, and then this magical 3 line icon, followed by what I assume is the predictive text input status, a keyboard icon, left/right arrow keys, backspace, and then your usual phone pad entry). Tap the 3 line icon and the text you copied earlier is pasted into the text display area of this app. Then hit the green tick and it gets pasted into the field you first double clicked on in the web page.
I hope that helps? ![]()
BTW, doesn't matter what orientation the screen is in using this method, just that the screen is folded flat back on the phone to hide the qwerty keyboard.

I ran into this issue yesterday on my N97. I wanted to cut a hotel address from its webpage and put it into maps to find where it was. As far as I can tell (after considering all the advice so far on this topic) it can't be done. I didn't have a pen, so I ended up scraping it into the sidewalk with a stick. Here I am with a (supposedly) state-of-the-art mobile business tool, having to cut & paste using a stick and the concrete.
This is astonishing. If I have missed something I will be glad to hear a solution, otherwise Nokia's developers should hang their heads in shame.
By the way this is Nokia's built-in web browser, not some 3rd party app.

In order to copy and paste an sms content into a webpage(ie. google.com):
1. open the keyboard
2. open sms message and choose 'Forward' in the menu. (for forwarding the sms)
3. hold down the shift key, and select the text you want using the arrows keys(up, left, right, down joystick)
4. hold down the shift key again and press copy (you will see copy, in the bottom-right side of the screen (instead of options)
5. now close the keyboard!
6. goto the wanted webpage's text area
7. from the options menu, you'll miraculously find the editing option, then choose paste. and thats it!
hope it was not to complicated for an n97 standard ![]()
