Yesterday I test my mobile and my headphone. Unfortunately the headphone doesn't work, I can't heard the voices (in the radio, mp3, videos), and the keys (play,pause..) don't work. In addition, if I test with other compatible XPress headphone, I can listen to music perfectly and I can manage play, pause.. from headphone.
First, I thought the problem was my headphone but, surprisingly, my headphone works in other nokia mobiles, like Xpress 5800 and N79.
I think, there is a problem between the firmware and the headphone, isn't it, any idea??

When you insert the headphone, do you see the headphone icon on the upper right? And when you connect it to the phone, it should either show that immediately or open a selection menu asking you if you connected a headset, headphone, line-out, tv-out or music stand. Did you select headphones?

When I insert the headphone, the mobile shows a selection menu asking me "headset, headphone,,,". Then I chose headphone, and the mobile shows an icon on the upper rigth, as I had a heaphone connected.
However, I can't use buttons "play, pause.." from headphone and the problem continues.
My impression is that the connector is very strange. I've compared my headphone connector with a Xpress connector headphone and they like a little different.

I have the same problem. Sometimes the phone asks me to choose when I plug in the headset and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't it all works fine. When it does, even after I select 'Headset' the remote won't work (earphone is fine, I can hear the music).
Is this a known issue with X6?

i had the same problem here it ask for connection and i say headset and the voice is very good but all the buttons do not work , any suggestions ??

after a lot of trials i found that if you introduce the 3.5 mm jack slowly the mobile do not recognise the headset even if you choose headset and that is why it did not work but if you introduce it fast and deep enouph the mobile will recognise the headset and will not ask you and every thing works fine
i hope nokia can solve this problem in the next firmware

I have an X6 and have the solution for you. If the phone asks how you want to connect when you insert the headphone into the jack it means that you have not pushed it in far enough. I have just replicated your problem. By pushing the headphone in part way it asks "select Accessory". However if you push it in until you hear a click the phone will not ask this question and a headphone symbol will appear in the top right corner. Hope this helps.

Hi I'm having the same problem, even when the phone in unlocked. I have made sure the jack is home.
In the guide is says
You can connect a compatible headset or compatible headphones to your device.
You may need to select the cable mode.I can find no other reference to cable mode.

I have reinstalled the firmware for my device X6 32Gb still have the problem...( V12.0.091)
Also done a soft reset to no avail. Anything else i might try before i send it back?

i think u r getting prblm with jack simply push the jack more inside
then it will work f9

i seem to be having the same problem. i have read all the posts and tried pushing in the headphone into to the jack as advised till i get a locking click but the issue persists. either there is no sound at all or there is an extremely distorted or yawing noise coming up. this is a fone that has been purchased last week and i am still trying out all its features and one of the main reasons for me to get this fone is to use the music features on it as i travel a lot and i use this while travelling. its very unfortunate that nokia is not responding to my mails or requests for assistance. i am now losing patience with this whole process and am very dissappointed with this product. i would appreciate any suggestions or advise to resolve this issue so that i can use my fone as soon as possible. thanks.

It is really odd that you have to do it like that, i had the same problem, i thought it was my headphones that was broken.

My X6 recently started to randomly ask me to "select Accessory". It does it everytime I *remove* the headset, but it also does it when the phone is standing by doing nothing!
Come on Nokia!
