As subject line, is there any difference between the European and US models (barr different chargers. Disadvantages if it does work?

You are correct about the only main difference being the charger which will have a different socket type. Otherwise the phone should work fine. Just ensure that the phone you are getting is sim free and not locked to a US network.

One thing to keep in mind is if you buy a phone from the US then you won't get the 2 year european warranty.

The warranty will be with the retailer, not nokia, and they can choose how long to give you, if they give you one at all.

Also you won't be able to use nokia repair centres in europe if anything goes wrong.
