Hi can someone please advise me on what may seem a simple thing, but which is driving me round the bend. I have a username and password for BT Openzone (and affiliated wifi).
When I locate a source I am asked for a WEP number - which I don't have?
I have wireless internet at home and my N95 works fine with this. But, the WEP for my home network wont work when I'm out and about.

You have to create an access point for each individual location. So your home (BT) configuration will not work on another wireless network.

Think of connections like doors, you have the key for your front door but this key will not work in any other lock. You have to get a key for each place you wish to connect via.

Hi - I understand what you are saying, but BT Openzone is available in many locations. I have a user name and a password, but when I try to connect, my device asks for a WEP key?

Try setting up a new AccessPoint.

Go to settings, connection, Access Points

Press options then new access point

Connection Name: BTOpenzone
Data bearer: Wireless LAN
WLAN Network Name: BTOpenzone (case sensitive)
Network Satus: Public
WLAN network mode: Infrastructure
WLAN Security Mode: Open Network
Homepage: http://www.btopenzone.com

Once these settings are in press 'back', this will save the access point. Now try going to an openzone hotspot and connect via this AP you've created.

Hi again. I have tried the above suggestion, no success. I get the message, 'no gateway', or 'cannot connect'.
BT Openzone help desk tell me that I need to go to their home page whilst connected at a hotspot, and enter my username and password. However, I can't do this for the reasons stated above.

it looks like a multi profile access points is not working in your phone, your access point profile in your home is taking precedence; reason it's asking for the wep key which you used at home!

Be careful, you might be connecting to rouge access points listed as BTOpenzone.

Try deleting your home profile and connect to the network?
