Re: WiFi problem on N97

Here's the solution to the WIFI problem

1. Pay £30 a month for a newly released "iPhone killer" that only has wifi for the first 3 weeks

2. Spend 3 months emailing Nokia Care and send your phone back to them

3. Find the fault hasn't been repaired and send it back to them again

4. On 2nd receipt find they still haven't actually fixed it (??) and raise merry hell

5. Get a Special Investigation raised and send it back for a third time, hopefully to be replaced with a new N97 that has had all the bugs ironed out of it.

Re: WiFi problem on N97

Not sure if this will help.....

I had similar problem with my router.  In the end I sorted it by changing wireless settings on router from WPA to WEP and that done the trick....

Re: WiFi problem on N97

Perhaps your upgrade changed your setting for the WLAN, but I can't see why changing protocols should solve not being able to find any WLANs? I have just received a brand new replacement N97 and it had no problem connecting before or after upgrading to V12. OMG I can access a WLAN now - it's only been 2.5 months

Re: WiFi problem on N97

first of all find out if your router requires a mac address for all the users of your wireless network- find out what yours is on the N97 by pressing:

*#62209526#   (will be like: 8C:67:55:98:5B)

then-or if you dont need to do this: go to CONNECTIVITY in the SETTINGS menu on your N97 - WIRELESS LAN then SELECT your wireless network- type in the correct WEP KEY or equivilent.

THEN- in Conectivity menu - go to DESTINATIONS, select add new access point and choose yours. A new INTERNET access point should be added- check in the internet option - MAKE SURE your wifi network is 1st in the list  (if you want to change settings for this you can by selecting OPTIONS-homepage, security type! WEP etc)

then start web browsing----if you cant connect yet......go to the browser (world symbol) and dont select to connect via WAP or contract internet then click OPTIONS - SETTINGS - GENERAL - ACCESS POINT -and change from wap to INTERNET

This worked for me, i got a n97 on vodafone, hope it works for you all and sorry for the long message.
