Why need to download maps?

Hi, I have just downlaoded a map for my country with nokia maploader....the process was tooooooo long :smileyhappy:

and when the map was downloaded that was it...I didn't really see that it was transfered to the N95...

I went outside and the signal was ok and everything worked fine...

So what is my question...the same map that i zoomed in yesterday is still here, so I'm wondering why did I download a new map of 140 mb and put it on my mem. card if it is the same map that was shown before i bought a memory card and downloaded this map?

I thank you for any answers regarding this question

Re: Why need to download maps?

The map you downloaded is for your entire country. This means that you can now move about your whole country without having to download a new map as you move about.

If you didn't download the maps, the map you currently had would only go so far around your current position before you would have to download another, and then another as you moved around. Downloading the entire country map cuts this out and saves you money on your phone bill, not to mention makes the map client more reliable.
