I'm getting a bit concerned.. I have a 5800 that is stuck on v21 of the firmware.. v30 came out (in some places) about 2 months ago and v31 came out around the start of this month.
I know some blame networks for delays.. and apparently shops/retails have custom firmware versions too (WHY?!) but this phone is a nokia bought unbranded handset?! I think perhaps its fallen off their list of devices to update.
Anyone else here have an *unbranded* 5800 that is stuck on v21?
Mine has product code 0575384
It's blue.
I don't know who else is to blame but Nokia in this case.. noone else could be holding them up!!
Anyone else having this problem too?

I don't have one but have been through this on other models, Nokia manage to make more problems for themselves with so many firmware versions that it is baffling as to why they dont just try to standardise stuff.
With so many Firmware versions for so many handset it poses the question are they trying to employ the entire Finish nation as software developers?

Hey, you?! You know C and ARM assembly? Yes! Great! Room A, buidling firmware..
How bout you? You know C? No? Assembly? No? JAVA??! No, ok Room B, building handsets.
And that is how Nokia employs Finland!! Oh, it made me laugh anyway
But seriously folks.. I would love to see a diff between the source code for 0559276 and 0575384
WICTP, Nokia firmwares will support all variations of a phone model and "change" how they behave according to the product code after installation, ie the firmware looks up the product when the phone boots and acts accordingly.. If this means doubling the flash storage in all the phones.. good.. (actually great!! that would be an improvement!) It would decimate the build times and realistically, what really differs between unbranded 5800s across the world.. the radio kit, the gps maybe, which wifi channels could be used? I doubt there are any difference to the calendar or calculator app!!
What worries me is that there isn't a v30 for this phone and now the current version is v31. Is this going to be another two months before I get an update because they've stopped rolling out v30? If they released a new firmware every two months, because my handset is SO far behind, it would never see another update!!
It is a bit bad.. and the blame is squarely on them this time..

My question to you guys is, why exactly do you want this firmware update?
What problems are you having?
Or do you simply just want a firmware update because it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside knowing you're on the latest? ![]()
Waiting a few months for an update isn't long at all.

It is actually my gf's phone and there are some issues she's been having, mainly stability.. like it failing to respond to incoming calls (line rings, but phone doesn't) and another quirky one.. it leaves the vibrate motor on?!?!
My point is, if I still don't have v30 and v31 is out.. are they going to finish rolling out v30 or am I now going to have to wait 2 months for v31 and what if they release v32 a month from now.. will I have to wait 2 months from then to get v32?
This is an unbranded phone but I'm two firmware versions behind after nearly 3 months.. It isn't a good sign
