So far i have had an N80 and an N81-8gb and they seemed very sound for music. I am now looking for a new n-series phone and i was just wondering which ones are equivalent or louder to my N81-8gb?

So far i like the look of the N85, but ive heard its not got a good speaker?

the n85 is very weak the n86 which i now have is pretty good and the same as the n97 speaker wise ,nothing in my opion has been better then the n81 which i kept for travelling for listening to music

i think n73 has loud speakers i have used it but u should move forward and check the technical specifications of n series mobiles and see which has loudess sound in the dimensions.

for a true music experience i would recommend nokia 5800xm it is a touch screen only phone but it is certainly music centric and from what i heard it has awesome speakers. look into this. it runs the newest os from symbian its fast, mature and a great phone for a great value altogether.

ref blueheartz no the n73 me is outdated to start and not near the n81 for loudness or quality

i was going to recomend the 5800 myself but the user asked about n series but yeah its good as rad pointed out its not as loud as the n81 but its the nearest one to it

thats out there now the n97 and n86 are the same in audio quality the n85  n79 are poor a tinny sound not loud

so id go with the n86 or the 5800 if your into touch screen

As far as i'm concerned, N82 has loud sound output than N79. I myself have tried with one of my mates having N79.

As jimmy said N85 and N79 are poor in loudness i can just conclude that N82 have good sound output but not as great as N81 or N86.

Btw, 5800XM has same volume level (loudness) as with N82 in its first firmware.

N95 I've had N73 and N82, and N73 has louder speakers. But N95 has even better, It is worth trying 5800, really.

They all have good speakers but the N95 and N96 are very load, I would say they are both about the same but the N96 is slightly clearer.

If you are used to the N81's sound, I am afraid you won't find nothing better. Perhaps the 5800 has got relatively loud speakers but the bass crackles, it only sounds clear and loud using a different eq preset than the "Bass Booster" one. The N81's speakers deliver a very good, crisp sound with practically no distortion. Anyway, of all the possible phones I think I would get the 5800xm which at least has got a clear sound through the headphones (but half the volume of the N81).

As for the general sound, the N85 is very bad, the speakers sound terrible, and the line out / headphones signal has got lots of distortion. If you put the headphones on your N85 and turn the volume all the way up, you will get a better sound than through its speakers, which are rather holes on the phone itself. The N95 has got decent speaker output, but the line out / headphone output is very low. I believe only the N91 would actually beat the N81, soundwise.

I wish Nokia would concentrate a bit more in the sound quality and use the same dedicated audio chip they used for the N81 / N91, at least in ONE of their current phones.

So is the N96 just a little bit quieter than the N81? becuase if its only a little bit then ill probally buy that one
