Hi, guys!
Help me to decide, please, what is better to buy between Nokia N97 and HTC Touch HD for a few next use cases:
1. Web-surfing;
2. Notes;
3. Contacts;
4. Music;
5. Films;
6. Camera;
7. E-reading.
8. Calling;
9. SMS, MMS.
10. Text typing.

Thanks a lot,
Alexey

You are asking this in the wrong place
Most of the people here have come specificaly because they have issues with there phones,
The phone with the most issues, and hence the most unhappy users on the forums tends to be the newest, atm the N97
as firmware patches are released the number of complainers tends to drop off
You will not get an unbiased answer here

Thanks a lot. May be you can say me, where I can look for the answer on my question?

N97 is Best
The Nokia N97 is a S60 5th Edition mobile computer with a large 3,5“, bright nHD (640 x 360 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio) TFT color display with resistive touch screen and tactile feedback. The device provides excellent user experience for internet and entertainment by combining qwerty keyboard with touch UI and Home screen functionality. Use the N97 to connect to mobile broadband using WLAN or HSDPA (3.5G). Find directions and locations with the integrated A-GPS and included maps. Additional features include game titles with N-Gage, a 5 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash and automatic geotagging of images and videos.
Extra Features
Accelerometer SensorA-GPS
So i Suggest you only about N97

Why the n900? http://maemo.nokia.com/n900/ watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_WlpCpwVq4
Its more of a internet / computer tablet than phone....the interface is largely based for the horizontal reading format.
The browser is firefox which allows you to install plugins.
Maemo is a great OS - and will be a leader in the future...thats my point of view anyway

1. Go to shop.
2. Spend at least 30 minutes with each phone trying to mimic how you use it every day.
3. Then decide and buy the one you like.
4. Use for few days, if still not satisfied, return it the shop (if they allow) and repeat from step 2.

I currently have an N97, which I'm increasingly angry with. Since the V20 upgrade it keeps running out of memory and the numerous bugs in the lock slider are not fixed, plus the sluggishness etc.
I tried the N900 for a couple of days but it does not work with exchange 2003 and is a bit of a brick.
I think I'm about to change to an HTC Hero with Android, which I just started evaluating today. Very responsive, light, lovely email. Only weakness detected so far is lack of flash.

I am not making any excuses for Nokia. They should have all the issues ironed out before release instead of making early adopters such as yourself be the guinea pigs. I myself have been investigating possible alternativess for my next phone and the HTC Hero happened to be one of them. What I did was I googled for problems with them all and discovered that they are all plague with problems when they are first launched. Just try googling "HTC Hero problems". I am sorry to say, but all the manufacturers seem to be just as bad as each other in this respect.
If you want to avoid having to deal with bugs, you should wait a few months before buying anything, by which time most of the bugs would have been sorted..

Hi, I've used both, daughter has HTC, far prefer N97, will fulfill all your requirements and more. As mentioned all phones have problems, N95 had probs to start but software sorted and became one of best phones on market, I'm sure N97 will be the same. People tend to contact forums with problems not praise ! Nokia have sold over 2million N97 25000 complaints(not all justified) do the sums. Mine's been great, never off the web, 2500 songs, 60+ vids and movies, loads of apps and themes. Really improved with v2.0 software. I have had to remove battery a couple of times and do a hard reset, but hell its not the end of the world ! and I work my phone hard most days. It's GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck with your choice

This post reflect just MY personal experience :
I've been a loooong time Nokia (and Symbian since 7650) user and was happy with my N97 (despite GPS not functionning well etc). One day I just went out and bought a HTC Hero... and I can tell you that it fits SOOOOO much better my needs !
I'm surfing with my phone about 1h each day (in the train), and the Hero handle it to a whole new level than the N97. I sold the N97 to my father and will not come back to Nokia soon (I really don't like their OVI services with OVI here, OVI there... I just prefere my Hero synchronising seemlessly with my Google account. But this is a personal taste...)
