What does "Activate Power Saving" do?

The manual says it, ah, activates the "power saving" feature, which isn't all that specific. Does it limit me to calls only? Disable wi-fi? Cancel scheduled podcast downloads? I could figure it out by trial and error but I don't have that much time!
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

Activate power saving mean settling the light sensor to the minimum, thus save up some battery life.

The backlight is set to minumum power and the timeout to 5 seconds.
