Dear all,
People are naturally curious about your new N97 smart phone, they always ask the question 'how is the new phone?' and I I'm interested in how you answer them?.
How would you answer to:
A friend
A close relative or GF / BF
A business college
Bearing in mind that these people will come back to you if they buy based on you advise, how do you answer?

i simply say the truth mate
nokia released it before it was ready and that they should have gave it too me for 2-4 weeks so i could bug test the device for them
poor camera lens cover
poor gps reception
poor early firmware
poor ram and weak processor (even thougn symbian is optimised alot)
leads to an unpleaseant user experience , maybe i have a faulty handset but from what ive experienced and read your lucky to get a good one which is another thing nokia should worry about , quality control
the n96 recieved criticsm but the camera didnt self harm and the gps was superb
i then say buy the omnia hd , better spec all across the board , apart from thumbpad and memory and less problems as well

If they're a techie like me I tell them it'll be a great phone once Nokia fix the lens cover issues.
Otherwise, I'd tell them not to buy it. This phone is soooooo not ready for market...

Hi all,
Any body had asked me and will asked me i'll tell them this is the best phone i have ever had except for some bugs and i can live with it because i know the next coming software will fix them all. this statement built on the experience with the iphone 3g, samsung omina, sony ericson x1 and will not trade the n97 for all three back again.
thanks

I would tell them that the phone is primarily for Windows users and other than this the phone is fine. If they want to sync the phone with a Mac, they should look elsewhere. I have (will give back to Nokia on Saturday) an N97 that is fine as long as I am willing to jump through hoops to sync the phone. If I were a pure Windows user, I would not look else where. This is a decent, but Nokia flawed phone.
A better question would be: "What are your needs?". No one phone fits all with the N97 being no different. For some the N97 will be underpowered while for others it will cutting edge.Knowing what you want before plunking down your money is the best option.
Show the KUDOS button some love.... Hit that bad boy.... It don't hurt....

Personally, I agreee with Radical24 - for me it is the perfect phone.
I agree with Sapporobaby too in that it is not a phone for everyone.
Consequently, I would tell A, B & C that I love my phone. I would then discuss their phone usage habits with them and with all three I would have an idea of their abilities with technology. There are people I would NOT recommend this phone to because yes, you need some degree techo blood flowing through your veins! Also, if a person is never going to use half the features and all they want is SMSing, a phone and nothing fancy, why on earth recommend they pay this sort of money?
A BF would be OK, because I could handhold him through the learning curve if he needed it. Most of my business colleagues would also be OK, given I'm in IT so most of my colleagues are too. My daughter and her husband are iPhone junkies (he supports iPhone users in his job) so as much as I tried to convert them, it wasn't happening.
If we didn't all have different phone needs, there wouldn't be such a wide variety of makes and models out there.

My wife was telling me the other day one of her colleagues 15 year old daughter was getting an N97 as her new phone and that made me think why? It's going to be way above what a 15 year old would want surely?
By its very nature the N97 is aimed at power users I'd have thought, although being featured in the Black Eyed Peas new video may be an attempt to make it a fashion accessory like the iPhone.
Gotta admit though, it would look cool to take something like an N97 to school/ college, even if the device is a bit iffy, a teenager probably isn't going to notice. ![]()

This is a good phone, and it will be better with som fw updates. It's not for everyone, but do you need SOME power, then it's for you. NImbuzz, Facebook, mail, music, navigation, works nice. I love the qwerty keyboard, others don't. I would say: try it out and see! But I also miss my iphone 3g a little. More responsive screen and better apps, but i really needed a better camera with light, and i needed some buttons to![]()

I thought my gf was going to throw her 3GS out the window this morning, she was getting so annoyed with the truly awful texting interface .. and she works for Apple .. with iPhones ![]()
Having said that, you guys have really put me off getting an N97. Guess I sort of expected some of the usual N-Series teething problems but it sounds like they're getting worse instead of better!
A lens cover that damages the lens?!
What's next? A bullet proof vest that shoots the wearer? ![]()
Ah well .. guess I'll stick with my N95 8GB for the time being ..

It's safe to say that you are far more likely to see the negative side on a support forum, than people giving it praise. People don't often register here just to say how good a phone is!
The same applies to any popular model, remember the fallout on this forum when the N95 launched? It was far worse than what the N97 is getting.
My opinion is that it's a very good phone that will be even better after another update or two. My lens cover is totally unscratched, and I have used it a lot.

I say the same to everyone who asks about the phone.
When i first got it and hardly anything worked without hassle (accu, backlight etc) i really thought i dropped one but since the FW update, reinstalling apps and using the vodaphone connection (configured new wap setting as they had on their website) instead of the contract wap setting on the phone its has worked superbly.
I would recommend this phone to most people but again depends on what they want from a phone though.
I still believe it needs some more work with the software but that will come with time like with anything that is new.

Good point, well made.
I got my N95 8GB after it had been out quite a while and I've never really had any probs with it at all. The first 6 - 9 months with my N80 were a complete nightmare.

Hi again,
One simple thing that make me through away my iphone 3g and samsung omina is that both are using a music player that always make me annoyed, not so simple and easy to use, like the iphone you only have to sync it with only one comp. but with my n97 whenever or wherever i go i have my cable with me and just plug it to any computer and suck all nice music out of it. you can't do that with the iphone, the omnia is like the n97 but i don't like it software and the design.
