I tell them to RUN.............keep running and dont look back..............
If only Nokia had put 10% of the N97 advertising budget in to product testing they would not be in this mess....... shame on you Nokia im calling Shenanigans

I'd say that if there are specific reasons why they want a N97, then wait for a while before buying one. If not, then look at the alternatives, because the N97 still have too many bugs to be used in a serious environment. It definitely feels like having a beta version of the product right now.
I can use it, but the problems are big enough to make me recomment people to wait a while before getting one.
And yes, there are likely more negative people on this board than positive ones, since the positive ones don't have as much reason to register and make comments. However, a few problems that I've had (and which I've posted about here) are problems that definitely all people have. So obviously happy people choose to ignore these problems, or haven't (yet) been hurt by them.
And others have also posted about problems, some of them which seems to be very general.

I'm curious to know what problems I definitely have that I am ignoring? This is not the thread to list them, for that would be threadjacking, but I do think that is a fairly sweeping statement. The one and only problem I have, which yes, I DO ignore pending the next firmware upgrade, is the fact the Messaging screen does not refresh when selecting Messaging from the Main menu. I suppose you could say I am also ignoring the fact I can't remove Boingo, although I would dispute that given I have an email from Nokia Customer Care advising me to attend a Care Centre to have this resolved - unfortunately I just have not had time since to go to one. Scheduling that for next week, all being well.

Yeah, this is hijacking the thread. I've posted about this already, so you can search through the threads for it, but...
1) How do you find out which groups a contact is a member of? (There is no easy way.)
2) How do you backup, and restore messages? (It seems you can't, using the content copier in Ovi Suite, even though it might appear that you can.)
If you feel like discussing the above problems, feel free to instead reply in the threads I created about them.
And then of course you have the lovely boingo internet connection, which if created, can't be removed unless you reset the device. And then you have some applications that can't be removed, even if you decide to buy the full version, or upgrade to a newer version.
I could go on... And these problems are not some subjective handling problem by one user or another. These are definitely problems *all* users have. And I don't hesitate calling them problems.
And I could go on with other problems I have, but I haven't been able to iron out exactly under which circumstances they occur, and I suspect that some of them are not hitting some people as much as others, so they are more "fuzzy". That's why I just stick to the ones above, since they are very well defined, easily verifiable, and don't really depend on any way you as a user act.

No seriously most people i know are quite non techie, so i tell them to stop looking for an iphone beater, yes it may cost a little more per month for one, but just to go for it, iphone users seem happy, especially the dumb ones, and happy to recommend the product, something i used to be like with my N95 8GB
I'm no longer enthusiastic when it comes to the N97, i keep it hidden like the deformed kid in those horror movies and if its spotted by someone and they ask "hey the N97 what's that like" I have to say that i would rather not comment which of course leads to "why what's wrong it" then off in to all the problems i have had with the handset which in itself takes an age.
Much easier to just hide it away from others like a leper in the 18th century.

Otherwise, I'd tell them not to buy it. This phone is soooooo not ready for market...
What are the issues with camera lens? Could anyone tell me?

Search the N series board or the various blogs out there, there's 1000's of posts on there about it and a very long thread here.
Basically on some peoples (not all) the lens cover is scratching the lens.

Good question; here's my answer bearing in mind that Nokia have now offered me a refund and I am currently packing up the phone to return it to them. Plus it went into Nokia care twice because it completely stopped and once because the aerial stopped working altogether and I got a replacement.
Things that I really like about the N97...
It's whole design especially the top level interfaces, overall this is a great phone in concept
The big memory (e)
The predictive text
My local Nokia care centre
Things I don't like about the N97 but can live with...
When applying new levels of firmware you have to backup & restore your data etc.. Imagine having to do this with your PC!
Constant firmware upgrades planned - oh grief this is a phone!
Battery life is very limited
Some car chargers don't charge even though the charging indicator says that they do
Applications installed that I don't want and can't delete
The keyboard is a little cramped a bit more space would make it much easier to use
Things I don't like and can't live with which is why I'm going back to my E61i ...
Can't use Quickoffice and no one seems to know why
The signal that the N97 will register is very weak compared to other phones I have had so I can't use the N97 in the ground floor of my house (it's not my phone there are a lot of other sufferers of this in the discussions)
Nokia support lines are constantly engaged and it's a real pain getting through to them
The whole phone is just so complex to understand if you have a problem. I worked at it, I am computer literate, but it was such hard work
Summary: this is a beautifully designed and specified phone ruined by poor engineering and testing. I may buy the next model but oh dear what was Nokia thinking when it released this one?????
