Got a new Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition phone over this weekend.
Overall, I'm quite impressed with the phone. There's this small quirk though.
It keeps scanning for available WLAN networks every hour. Is this a bug? It happens at around the 13th minute of every hour. (Eg: at 6:13, 7:13, 8:13 etc..) I'm sure there's some setting somewhere I've missed. Can anyone explain?
EDIT: Actualy, I've observed that it's not on an hourly basis. It looks like it's random. Maybe it comes up as soon as a Wireless (WLAN) network comes into range/ is switched on. From another thread here, I got to know that skype/fring might be the cause. I do have fring installed. Is that the culprit?

2 Methods ..
1. Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> Wireless LAN -> Options -> Settings and Set the Show WLAN Availability (NEVER)
2. Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> Wireless LAN -> Options -> Settings and Internet Connectivity Test (NEVER RUN)
Good luck !

Enabled both of them. No luck.
Here's my thinking:
I'm petty sure its because of some app running in the background which kind of constantly requires internet access.
My 3 top guesses
1. Fring
2. Nokia Internet Messaging Connect suite (I've configured my Gmail ID on this)
3. The GPS software?
Question : How do I know what apps are running in the background (Apart from the 'Show Open apps' thingie)?

I'm very sure u need this freeware handy - http://www.2shared.com/file/10339644/46e0b8b0/Kill
This application will kill any running process immediately, I recommend u to use this application each n everytime u start and close an application, game or tools .. this process killer will release any background process immediately and free up ure device resources and saves battery too ..
Cheers !

Thanks a lot. I'll surely check out that app.
But for now, my problems have disappeared and I'm around 80% positive it was the 'Nokia Email' app showing its true colors in the background
. I'll post back if I don't face the issue till tmrw.
Thanks a lot again, guys!
