for months (about 2 months) most of the post and blog sites that i have come across
has always been terrible talks about the N97.
i my self have none of these problems. at first i thought that i had the battery meter bug where the phone
would suddenly die at 2 - 3 bars of remaining battery power. but this was due to the home screen updates
with live widgets. once i charged up the n97 and switched off the widgets the battery meter and power worked
as expected.
i have installed loads of stuff on my n97 searched the net for every free app and game plus i toothpicked the
free wares on ovi installed them all to the mass drive. the phone works perfectly my c drive has 26 meg remaining
there are no resets, no hangs no scratches anyware and no confusion. i guess im lucky.
so i decided to look within the battery compartment for a product number and notice that my phone was made in finland.
im now thinking that you can look at your label on your phone to see where your phone was made. and give some
feed back here as to wether your phone have problems or not.
this might be a stupid idea but its one that i have never com across
thanks

Mine is made in Finland (says on the box) got it in sept and pretty much the same experience as you. The only problem i had was my own human error didnt backup when updating firmaware OPPS.
The odd niggling thing but nothing that would put me off using or slating my phone i.e hangs somethimes finishing a call from answering via swipe to answer.

Mine made in china !! i guess the all the middle east market and asia n97 devices made is china .. although i saw an unboxing review in youtube from a guy in hongkong has a n97 made in finland.
personally i was disappointed when i read made in china and i linked it with the poor performance of my device .. Do you think it will make any difference weather china or Finland ??

Please don't get heated. Its not worth it. plus think before you respond.
nokia make millions on phones and parts are made and put togather in different countreis and yes the end product is put through QC (quality control) OBVIOUSLY by nokia staff (it wouldnt be Samsung staff would it now)
here are some things that can go wrong
nokia manufacturing machines in different countries can become faulty while the phones are being made and this does count.
neither am i spreading false roumers and/or misconceptions about where and how the product is made or even in the slightest trying to say finland production are better. so please think before putting fingers to keyboard.
many users have problems with the slide button falling out, well i dont have this problem. so explain to me this.
if every phone has passed the QC test then how can some phones be faulty ?
this clearly tells me that at production something must have happen.
here is another example
some users complain that there are scratches on the screen even though from the first day of purchase the user has
never removed the plastic screen protection that the unit came with ? how could that be ...... again i dont have that
problem
what about the scratches that the camera protective shutter create on some phone ? im sure you got the point...
these problems comes down to LOCATION of where the phones are made, it also effects the batch that the phone
belongs to as well.
when certain batches of phones have a problem manufacturing machines must be recalibrated in order to fix the
situation...... do you remember when the nokia e90 was first released. go do the research.
this thread is valid. if you dont like it then simply dont respond

@q,
Great post and as I will reiterate this has been covered up and down both sides of the road. Made in China, made in Viet Nam, made in FInland makes no difference. My N97, which I returned because it was not a good product was made right here in good old Finland while my friends was made in Hungary and he loves his to death and has no problems. So the: "where was it made" theory goes out of the window. Hence my previous post.
By the way, my phone never had the lens scratches that everyone had so go figure. Once again, it does not matter where the phones are made. Sooooo I think my fingers and what they typed were apropos.

The post creator is absolutely right, we are not new nokia users the n97 is the 13th nokia device i used across long time .. so when we notice that devices made in Finland and Germany is better than china we are not talking from a vacuum.
we are old users as your self sapporobaby, remember nokia first generation mobiles they are tuff.. i am welling to pay extra if my device is made is Finland and germany.

@q8ee,
Just curious. Are you from there?
Anyway, the OP may have a point but it is moot as far as the build of Nokia phones. Nokia is a global company building phones all over the world to one set of standards. You have people with scratched lenses that come out of Finland while people with Hungarian phones have no issues what so ever. What you have is NOKIA designers incorrectly designing products that are manufactured in global factories to incorrect build standards. Thus, phones from all over the world that are flawed by design.
Like many here I too have been with Nokia from almost the very beginning. If anyone can remember the 2110 and 2110i please speak up. I also have the original Communicator that was used in the movie The Saint. So I know quite a bit about Nokia, their products, and so forth.

sapporobaby
So the: "where was it made" theory goes out of the window.
this thread did not and was not inteded to conclude results based from any sort of theory and again this thread is valid.
it was and is ment to be a simple tiny poll. nothing more nothing less (DAM lol) ![]()
i started this thread just to see where most of the broken phone were coming from and again i have
never seen a thread like that or better still a thread like this before.
it might not prove anything as in concrete evidence or help as in getting your fone fixed but it would be
nice for nokia users to participate with their problem and country..... view it as a statistical thing.
and for me the best nokia phone was the nokia 3210 it was simple to use, practical, it had no problems and the ring
tone was EXTRA LOUD lol.
there is something about nokia that makes me keep parting with my money.
the only other phone that i had was a motorola black dyna-tac 8000. back in the late 80's or early 90's
and ill be probably suckard into buying the n900 if it live up to the rep its getting for next year.
any way
peace
