WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

Apparently, there is offensive language in the following:

"Why no update?

Because we're just customers who line the pockets of the predatory parasites running Nokia.

We don't matter."

I'd just like to point out to Mohjo who got on the defensive that the above post was only a statement of fact and suggest that he looks up the meaning of the scientific terms 'parasite' and 'predatory'.

Perhaps the board of Nokia would like to reflect on how offensive their customers find it to be conned into parting with cash with marketiung lies about the trash N93.

The issue I would take with your statement is that this board is not for general critism of Nokia, it is there for Nokia users to help other Nokia users with problems they may be having using their Nokia products. If you have a complaint then you should really direct it to Nokia. If you have specific issues with a product that you feel should be posted here then go ahead. If it all becomes one big slanging match then either Nokia will walk away from these boards (which would be a shame as there are many customers who find them useful) or the people with the good advice will walk away (and achieve the same effect).

Personally I don't believe that Nokia is run by "predatory parasites". If that really was the case then the company would have gone out of business years ago. The fact is that people continue to buy their products year on year, sometimes they take their eye of the ball, but we need to give them a chance to come back and fix it.

And a positive fact, that they allow that kind of discussion on their own site! So, is only people that try to win their live on selling phones, and they made mistakes, like others. The good way, is learning with that kind of mistakes, and improve the products.

Hi All,

Thank you for the constructive comments on this thread. I would like to just point out that we are only removing highly irrelevant or highly negative posts. These posts do not help other users and can make it more difficult to locate useful information as they may mention model numbers but have no useful information in them.

Thanks

Re: WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

I have written to the board of Nokia to complain in the strongest terms about the N93.

That was months ago. I have had no reply.

I also wrote to the customers service department of Nokia.

That was months ago. I had no reply.

Here on a Nokia forum, the moderators choose to silence you for criticing Nokia.

It seems as consumers, we're not listened to. We don't matter. Listen people, don't buy Nokia. Do you really want to give your hard earned money to such an arrogant and ignorant company?

Re: WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

Hey Silvester 2[I guess you are silvester]
Thanx for starting a hard topic.
Couple of days ago I was banned for two days-the reason was I was making unneceassy posts...anyway.
Nokia did and is making really good phones.
But in 2006 the phones released n80, n91, n93 and the superstar n73 came with poor hardware with BUGGY software.
For this we faced some hardcore problems like
N73 often crashed for infinite numbers of reason.
N80 made some crashes.
N93 made a funny but sad upgrade B/W video recording in night mode.
N91 HDD has had some legendary issues.
But all of these things [except b/w recording] are improved at least 70%.
My point is because of buggy softwares and unfortunately releasing the demons in same year and almost same time nokia got quite derailed IN TERM OF RECEIVING AND MANAGING Solutions.
And people get annoyed with all these events.
now my suggestion please dont say it;dont buy nokia"
I am not to offend anybody.
I believe if they bring new phones like n76, n95 and n75with FANTASTIC HW and SW then people feel less trouble and nokia could make a balance in their customer service fields.
Besides this, I will tell another thing again if you make complicated things your service centre staffs should be more complicated to solve the issues.
And at last, if nokia remove the hw issues I do believe they can really care us-the nokia phone buyers.
Thanks.

Re: WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

hmm. well, I still have my Nokia 6310i... and had it updated with latest flash (first time ever updated) for a GBP10 at a Nokia service center. I've been thinking of upgrading for a year, but nothing quite appeals!

Despite N having not made this model for some time, the guarantee ran out years ago, I am impressed that N even offer support for it at all.

I think that N succumb sometimes to internal marketing pressure and release things too early, but from friends who like to be on the "bleeding edge", it seems that Nokia do try hard to fix things up later.

We as consumers help cause the problem by impatiently demanding early launch of not-quite-ready products, and being willing to buy the goods before even proper reviews are posted, and the strong competition in the market, mean Nokia give in to the folly of their customers.

So, advice is...

to prospective customers: hold fire until you read a good review, and try it out in a shop first. Might even help if you paid a bit extra to buy it locally and thus get some local support, rather than some box shifter who doesn't care.

to Nokia: don't tease customers with prototypes, and slap down your marketing people who pressurize the software developers to get it out of the door when its not quite ready. Remember: people will forgive you for being a bit late surprisingly quickly, but remember faulty goods far longer!

Re: WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

Hi nj7_ & speculatrix

Good posts. I agree with what you are saying and for many I'd like to add that most folk come to this board I imagine because they have a problem mainly hence negativity, though for every user with issues I consider many to have few problems or if they do they work through and carry on (ie My wife!!)

I was drawn as it's a way of seeing what else I could get out of my phone(s), or help / discuss with like minded souls!!

We do seem to be getting more heat than light in some threads. I think there are some exciting developments in the N range in such a short time. Sure for reasons you've stated there are problems, but look at difference between early Windows and XP.

I have had very few issues with my phones over the years.

My family and friends keep going off and getting other phones against my input. Funny though they do come back to Nokia after a while.

i was banned from this forum because i challenged a mod to prove me wrong on something (nokia HS12-W being compatible with N91) althought it wasnt is was listed as compatible but finding it was difficult even tho i gave the mod explicit instructions to follow to find it, the first time he replied and said he had look and it wasnt compatible. the second time i tried and urged him to follow my instructions to the letter he barred me. i think he realised i was right and didnt want to be proven wrong, pathetic. there was a thread on the subject running at the time and i put all instructions in a post and asked others to follow it and confirm for me what i was saying, everytime i posted it the mods removed it, like i say Kar*m didnt like to be proved wrong

shortly after i got barred nokia corrected the mistake, probably at the hurried request of kar*m

Re: WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

Me too banned for "POSTING SOME INAPPROPRIATE (!) POSTS" for two days.
The fact is I am not against nokia , I am a fan of nokia products.I like their designs, their trying to give something newer as well.
But I dont support things to be forced and come out without sufficient experiment i.e. stability.
Thanks Silvester for give us the opportunity again to talk something that is goin' around this discussions board.
The truth is people barely bash their buggy products [but on the other side, some of them even dont know what is firmware upgrade] in other blogs-if any moderator of this discussions forum will see that he or she may realize how patient we are to comment on the sw issues as well as helping each other to find the solutions on various problems.

Re: WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

good point, I think Nokia ought to be a lot more proactive about telling customers that there are firmware updates for their mobile phones. there must be quite a high number of people disappointed or frustrated with their phones when there is probably a fix for the niggling problems.

e.g. my 6310i is so much better, in many subtle ways, with the new firmware. however, despite my carrier (virgin mobile in the UK) knowing I have one, am I am registed for newsletters by email, they never told me, and I had to find my own local Nokia service centre and go there to get it done.

Re: WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

This has been discussed several times.

I believe one reason - or should that be excuse - Nokia don't provide information on upcoming firmware releases is that the actual date customers receive them is also dependent on their network doing the customisations. Given the fact that many networks - Voda and O2, for example - are pretty dire at this, setting customer expectations could p-off the networks ..

Re: WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

good point again. well, at least the mobile co's could let you know what firmware version they recommend, so at least u can see if you're up to date. anyway, I think this discussion has rambled on enough. time for something more productive.

Re: WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

I think a few things are wrong, but to be honest, I think we all lose the fact that it can't be easy to make a mobile that everyone will think is perfect. People slate Nokia, but i think Nokia have alot that other mobile manufacturers should be jealous of.

Nokia are doing something right if they are still making money.

Re: WARNING: Don't dare criticise Nokia

That is good point too.
But I dont think they won't make a perfect phone until the end of all things to come to a constant edge.
Nokia likes to do one thing-that is making flagship for one particular factor.
Like Vidz shooting in N93 or N93i

Like music in N91

Like all in one [but the funny thing is the all-in-ones has no perfectness in each edge!] in N70,N80, N73 .

We customers have resorted to use of stronger words for the simple reason that decent language ( as per Nokia's dictionery )
did not have an effect on Nokia.

Understand such postings will never stop unless Nokia improves itself

Hi guys and babdi

Please read my post here. This will add to what Ajax has said. Constructive criticism is more than welcome. But once it enters into direct insults and attacks, then we will not accept it.

We understand your stand as mods. The people who land in this forum usually come here to get their problems solved by Nokia.
The simple reason is they come here after all trying options with Nokia. Yes I do agree insults cannot be accepted. No one has right to insult other. Forum or otherwise. But I suggest you moderators to be a bit more tolerent as long as the person does not resort to direct abuse
