I have noticed that my phone is stating that there is a Software update available, when I go into Software Updater. And tells me to download using PC.
I have tried to check for OTA updates, and there is none. I have also tred the Nokia Software Updater, but still nothing. So is the SW Update app on my phone telling fibs.
I know that Vodafone "approved" (molested more like), V50, and sent it back to Nokia, to make it available.
Apparently red handsets now have it, so where is blue???
Come on Nokia

Software update is available via PC message so whats the problem .Not showing via Ovi Suite as update .
You do not say what phone model nor product code so i cannot check .

Apologies for being a bit vague.
The SW Update app in the Applications menu is showing Software Update available, and to update using the PC.
But when I use the Nokia Software Updater, and OTA, no firmware is available.
My product code is 0587678 (Vodafone UK Blue).
I am sorry for not including my product id last time.

Software updater says no update for that product code .
Latest available software for your device:
Version:: 40.0.005
However its been noted on the forum before that Nokia have sent out software update messages before the software is on the servers .
Checking two unofficial sources shows no Vodaphone update to V5 .
You will just have to keep checking .

Thanks for the fast reply.
As I thought. Apparently 5800 users on the Vodafone forum have reported that V50 is available for red handsets. Just have to wait for blue now.
I did check the Can I Update section, but was a little mystified when it said that no update was available. But if Nokia do release update messages before firmware is available, then that would indeed explain it.
Thanks again.

Yeah, Vodafone has approved and no doubt molested the v50 firmware, and red models now have v50 OTA apparently. But as yet no blue.

Well Voda are currently soliciting ideas on how they can become "the home of smartphones" on there e-forum
Knock yourselves out

That is wrong and not relevant to this thread.
It's orange and t-mobile that are merging to become Everything Everywhere, vodafone has no involvement at all in that merger.
As said earlier in this thread it's now a case of vodafone approving and the user waiting. Posting on the voda forum is a wise choice as they often do listen.
It is unknown why the blue model has always been later to get updates than the red. The firmware is identical apart from the themes colour.

Hi psychomania, I gathered that the firmware's for the different colour handsets were identical apart from the default theme.
I have posted on Vodafone's forum, and look forward to their reply.

Well I have finally got v50. This was after Vodafone stated that it was available for contract. But they stated that due to problems with the pay as you go firmware,it had been held back. So I stated to them that there is no difference between contract phones & pay as you go, so don't fob off their users with that story. Well it must have worked, because announced a few days later it was being rolled out to all Vodafone product codes.
And even better. My phone has been suffering from the infamous screen corruption problem.Sent it off for repair, and came back with the same fault. Since the firmware update, it hasn't happened at all?
