Video call, two Nokia 5800s

Well, when I got my Nokia 5800 phone, my friend was so impressed with its features that he bought one too. Once he had it, we decided to do a video call. However, when I tap video call, it starts calling, then it simply says "connection error."

Why?

What network are you on? Maybe it doesn't support it. I'm on ATT and it wont work. Try using Fring.

Hi, I don't know 'why', but you do need a strong 3g connection on both phones to make the video call work, so if one of you was in a weak area. Try it again and if you constantly have a problem, try contacting your service provider. Also google 5800 video call, you may get a solution on the web, ther is a specific forum for 5800 users.

Good Luck

I'm on AT&T, and I live in Chicago where I almost always have a 3.5G connection, same with my friend. We were at the exact same location when we tried it.

I have tried Fring, and I did successfully do a video chat with my brother on his Mac in Indiana.

If you are on ATT the only way you could do a video call is with Fring. Are you seeing this error while trying Fring?

It is not sufficient to have a 3g connection.  Your provider's network (AT&T in this case) must also support video calls.  Call AT&T customer support to see if they do.  From basic google searching, it seems that AT&T has monetized video conferencing via a service called AT&T Video Share (look it up).  Meaning, you'll have to pay for that.  :smileyhappy:
