Using 7.3 browser on 5230 - no search facility?

On the new 7.3 browser one is supposed to use the same slot for entering valid url's and to do a google (or Bing-) search.

 

On my device if I enter anything other than a valid full url - it gives a fault report "not able to open site xyz."

 

So despite having selected google as my search partner in options the search facility shows up nowhere. In the menus there is onle a "search for word" - which apparently means searching -within- a specific displayed website.

 

Thanks in advance for any tips on resolving this.

 

(p.s. Installing Opera is not an option as the phone crashes each time I try to start Opera Mobile - irrespective if it has been installed from m.opera.com or ovi store!?)

You do have v50 right? There may be some cases of lower version firmwares just only now being available for some product codes.

- thanks for your tip - I have just used ovi suite to re- install the firmware and now it is working ok - the lila- coloured "search with google" stripe is NOW showing up under the URL/Search entry field.. apparently the original firmware installation (done over-the-air) was corrupted/incomplete.

 

Thanks for your effort and I am now again one "Happy Nokia Camper."

 

BTW My husband<flybye 77> is also pretty pleased with himself since he got a (very early!?) upgrade of his N8 to Anna. We are going to do a videoclip of that for you tube.
