Use of nokia MU-44 16 GB micro sdhc for nokia 5230

Though 5230 is in the supported accessory list of MU-44 , there are rumours that using 16GB causes the phone to go sluggish and hang , is this true ??

Is it safe to buy 16 gb or should i stick with 8 gb

please advice ,
