Thinking of buying the N86 8MP, have some questions for ya...

Hey!    Im thinking of buying the N86 8MP, but have Nokia improved the hardware in later batches? Such as the lens cover which is scratching the lens.  Or is this going to cause trouble to EVERY N86 8MP?

And is there any proper software available yet? Cuase it seems like the v20.115 failed pretty hard?

 Please answer!

Yes the lens cover scratches the lens window.

Random shutdown for no reason making me miss sooo many calls.

Audio quality worse than 5130XM

I suggest you wait for the new firmware and buy it then.

If you ask me , The 8mp cam does not make much of a difference with all bells and whistle . If you are into touchscreen , GET THE

X6.

Wow, I thought the N86 was much better than what you describe. Steve Litchfield from AAS said it was one of the best smartphones out there. Sad to hear the music quality of the Nokia phones has declined so much. :smileysad:

Is there any way to find out when a new software is/going to be available?  Is Nokia even working on a new one?

There is no way to find it out since Nokia doesn´t tell anyone when or even if an update is coming or not.

You´ll have to do what we all do when it comes to software updates: Wait and hope... :smileyvery-happy:

Ok  :smileysad:      I really want to upgrade me from my N95 to the N86.  But i think it sucks that Nokia cant tell anything about the software, they must get a bunch of complaines every day?

It came out October 1st 2009...so it´ll probably take some time for another update to come out... :smileysad:

I know you are in a hurry to buy it as all the hardware looks and feels appealing. Trust me ,you will repent buying this 450USD

Stainless steel, Mineral glass BRICK. I'm telling you coz i sold my BRILLIANT 6-month N81 in buyback scheme to get this mobile

and I am repenting from day one. Random shutdown , hangs and restarts plague this gem of a hardware from Nokia.

You have an N95 right ,

Listen to music on N81 and it is a heavenly experience . N81 sounds lot better than N95 as it has the N91 audio chip. I swear I will sell

this BRICK N86 if I get 85% or even 70% discount in buyback.

Yea, have an N95 right now.  I have looked a little at N96, N81 and N85 but i really want he N86 because of the camera. Now someone going to say that the camera sucks, but at least it has the potential, it has a 8mp sensor and the proper optic , its just a lack of software i hope.

Is it going to be posted here on the forum when a new software is available?

N86 has tremendous potential as an imaging device,it can overthrow ,even seasoned point-n-shoot digicams. It is only the software

that is lagging behind.

Yes you will know when the new software is available as there will be a hue and cry on this website when troubled N86 users heave

a sigh of relief.

If you want to buy, It is your choice and you can go ahead and buy because you want it. It was my duty to guide you which I did .

Re: Thinking of buying the N86 8MP, have some questions for ya...

ive been using the n86 for some 3 months now and have not had any trouble with it shutting down or freezing there was an issue with the lens cover but i got my phone replaced i was lucky that way considering i spend a fortune on nokia mobiles dont see why is should not thats here nor there, the audio quality is much improoved over the n85 the slider is solid and has a great clear display ive tons of 3rd party apps installed and still not one problem ,when a new product comes out your the guinea pig for nokia such as myself as i buy them sim free ive never really had any issues that firmware updates did not resolve so go ahead and buy it and enjoy it you dont have to listen to my advise but im very happy with the product.

If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

LoL    I knew there was going to come a post like this  ^^      As i said, there really is two sides of those firmware problems.

But jimmyireland, what problem was it with the lens cover?   And do you have v20.115 "installed"?
