The rare as hell it seems BLACK nokia N80

I have pre reg'd for a N80 with a phone company, but they are not sure what colour it is and they suspect thier stock to be silver. I have enquired on a few other sites and it seems to be the case that no one seems to have the black version apart from places selling sim free. Is black only for people buying sim free or will the black ones be avaliable aswell as I really want the black one after seeing the photos.

You would think that Orange would be all over the black N80 handsets like a rash as it would match their corporate colours very nicely.

Forgive my ignorance isn't it orange and not black and hence the name Orange?

There is a predominance for a sea of black for the background with a small Orange logo in the foreground. I'm guessing you haven't seen any Orange packaging, probably just as well if you don't like things homescreened :smileytongue:

To me, I would have thought that a black N80 would seem the ideal tool for the marketing boys at Orange HQ.

Im just a bit narked that there seems to be a load of silver ones everywhere and it says on this site (available in silver and black) grr. Iv been told if its not the colour I want when it comes though I can send it back so all good, would be alright if they had express on covers but once a silver phone always a silver phone unless you fancy buying a crp market special you have to make the choice of which colour you'd prefer.

Yes it was more of a joke about the orange and black!

Your local CNSp will be able to get you black covers and fitted by them at a small cost to ensure you have a black set of covers.

Hi, sorry for my thickness ha ha, whats a CNSp ? certified nokia service point at a random guess?. Oh rite, so if they cant get hold of a black one, get the silver one and get the service centre to fit me a black cover, surround etc for it, didnt know you could do this ?.

Club Nokia Service Point.

Changing the covers could render your warranty void, so bear that in mind if this is the course you choose to take.

An approved CNSp with offical nokia covers (black or silver), changed at a CNSp will not void your warranty. By changing the covers the only effect this will have is changing the colour.

I am getting an answer on this at the moment, the warranty is not clear on parts changed by a CNSP. As soon as I get it I will post it back here.

You can always check on shop.nokia.co.uk. You might be able to find a sim free one there. On that site we sell the phones in all the available colours.

When the N70 was released, we got a whole bunch ov ivory and purple phones here to be signed out, the rest of the country got the silver one instead - go figure :smileyhappy:

Ahh yes I think they have some but they are stupily stupidly expensive at the moment, works out far cheaper to get a contract one for £30 a month and use my other sim card in it, as the total amount is still cheaper than buying one sim free, some places are selling them for like 700-1000 sim free which is stupid, you can get a small runabout car for that.

Ok, I got an update on this.

Provided geniune Nokia covers are installed by an authorised engineer you should not have any problems.

If you do have the covers changed, it is important to keep the reciet to prove that they were approved covers and an approved CNSp.

Bear in mind that buying a phone with a contract means that the network provider is more inclined to heavily subsidise the cost of the handset. The networks would rather you pay them £30 to 40 / month for 12 months (£360 to £480) and pay a reduced price for the handset as opposed to pay full price for the handset and pay them nothing. Also bear in mind that the networks can source handsets with substantial discounts as they buy in bulk.

How does the phrase go? "There's no such thing as a free lunch". :smileywink:
