Wonder if some kind soul can assist. I recently watned to change one of my speed dial contacts on my 5800 XM (the application where you can define calling a contact via a single number of the keypad). It had been working prefectly before, however now when I go to "Settings", "Calling", the "Speed Dialling" application is now shown with a small shortcut mark on the icon (similar to those on Windows desktop icons).
When I select the speed dialling application, the screen just flashes and then takes me to a my contacts list, where as before it would show a little keypad overview (0-9) indicating which speed dial locations were set and which were still empty. Try as I might, I cannot get this application to work anymore. The presence of the little "shortcut" mark on the icon leads be to believe that the application is missing, as it's the only one of the 5 applications (Call, Speed Dialling, Call Mailbox, Call Divert and Call Barring) that has this mark.
Weirdly, speed dialling still operates for the positions that I had previously defined, including "1" for voicemail ?
Does anyone have any idea what's going on and how to sort this please, as I have some applications installed on the Phone and don't really want to go though the procedure of installing them all again if I can help it ?.

As no one seems to know the answer to this question, I thought I might try reinstalling the firmware (30.0.011) or doing a hard reset. I've backed up everything (including the memory card) using the application from the Nokia PC Suite.
One question though, If I do a reinstall of the firmware or a hard reset, then restore my backup, will the phone work exactly as before. i.e. not only will all my contacts drop back in, but will all the programs and the sat nav program I installed work straight away, or will I have to re-install everything again ?
Any assistance would be very much apprecaited.
Oh, finally, I have seen a number of comments surrounding a later firmware than 30.0.011, but I've tried through the phones built in updater and also the Nokia PC suite updater, and both say that I have the latest firmware. I'm in the UK if that makes any difference ?
Kind regards

My homescreen shorcuts to Dial and Contacts were not working, my solution wont fix the problem with the other shortcuts but Dial and Contacts are going to work again;
Go To;
Settings
-Personal
--Home Screen
---Home screen theme
----Choose Contact Bar
Done, your shortcuts are working now.
