I have all the info i need to have jus like I do on my N95--3 to make a Internet call...and the N97 has the same and allows me to put it on there but the N97 don't have the internet call option...Any help out there Nokia fans?

can;t answer for N97, but in newer S60 phones (S60 3.2) compared to N95, then there is also a Net Settings application to configure (in addition to the SIP profile) then you get an extra option in the Contacts application for Internet Call. So there may be some other settings needed?

So it looks like VoIP is not on the cards for the N97 either, then. The application mentioned only works on the N79 and N85.

Sadly it is true, I noticed it was the same as the 5800xm when using an N97 on RDA.  It's built in skype, services like fring & nimbuzz or nothing unfortunately.

I can't believe that Nokia removed the SIP client. I come from an N95 on which I used it everyday. I'm thinking of going back to my N95 and return my N97.

Well an earlier post said after the summer they will add it, we will jus have to wait n see....

They are adding Skype to the N97 later this year. I believe it is planned for the FW update planned for Late August/Early September?

I also believe that the SIPs client is not removed, just not shown.

The SIP client was removed after a ground-upwards rewrite of the SIP stack in FP2 and S60v5, which made it incompatible with the SIP client shipping in FP1 devices.

They just never bothered writing a new SIP client and installing it.

That page worked for me too, but there appears to be one thing lacking...

I would like the phone to automatically log into my SIP account whenever a connection is available for the chosen Destination. I cannot see a way to set that.

Check that you have installed "S60 5.x SIP VoIP 3.1 Settings" from the site below:

After installing the above application, you can configure the VoIP service settings and enable the login to the VoIP service in the Contacts application. When logged in, the service should automatically try to connect to the VoIP service whenever the connection is available.

Note that it can take a few minutes before the VoIP service gets connected when entering the WLAN coverage because the device doesn't scan the WLAN networks continuously.
