S60 browser refusing to work

Hi all,

I have somehow managed to kill the browser app on my 6120 classic s60 phone. The browser froze while I was saving a web-page and now when I go to start the browser nothing happens. I have searched the system files using y-browser to see if i can find and delete the saved webpage (incase the file size was causing memory issues) but cannot find the relevant files.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can resurrect the browser? (Cant find any links to download and re-install the application either so im rather stuck.)

Thanks

Re: S60 browser refusing to work

You could try either a soft reset or loading Opera onto your phone to see if that works?

Re: S60 browser refusing to work

Hi Lupos,

thanks for the reply, pardon my ignorance but how do I do a soft reset?

Tried switching off and back on, reset factory defaults all to no avail.

Gave opera a quick look but didnt really get the hang of it - may have to give it more of a chance. Also is it not the case that even with opera installed clicking on a link in an email for example would still try to launch the s60 browser (I read somewhere that its not possible to change the defualt browser setting to launch opera, is that correct?)

Re: S60 browser refusing to work

Before you try this, make sure you back up your phone so should you loose data, you will be able to restore.

To do a soft reset, type in *#7370* and this should reset your settings.

As for Opera, I am not sure about the links. Hopefully the above will work for you or it could be a trip to the Nokia store.

Only other thing I can think of is a hard reset but this will restore the phone to 'factory' and you will loose all your data.

Re: S60 browser refusing to work

Ok will try the soft reset, if that fails how do I perform the hard reset? I will lose all data if it ends up going back to the shop to be rebuilt so its worth a try i guess and may save me time in the long run.

Thanks.

Re: S60 browser refusing to work

Hard reset code = *#7780#

If the hard format code mentioned aboive does not work, try the following manual method to hard reset/format Nokia N95:

*Turn off the mobile device. Then press and hold “3?, the “Green button” and “*” - Turn on and keep holding the keys untill the mobile phone restarts and prompts you to enter details.

If you still have your data backed up, you could then try restoring that??

Re: S60 browser refusing to work

by doing soft reset, it would erase all files and settings stored into your phone, so be sure to have a back up copy(you can use pc suite).
And no, you don't need to press dial button.
Hope this helps.

Ola!
right code is *#7370#...
After you key in that code it will prompt a warning asking you if you want to reset or not, just press yes if you're decided...
Just dont 4get 2 have a back up copy of your data before doing this...:smileywink:
