Replacement Nokia N82 Housing.

Have somehow managed to get a Scratch on the front of my N82 it goes from the screen which is protected by the screen protector right down through the word "Nokia" to the top of the D-Pad.

I would like to replace the Housing to get rid of the Scratch but cannot find any replacement housing for sale for this phone.

Is there any solution to this? would Nokia sell a replacement to me? I'm sure i would be able to fit it myself due to my line of work etc [Avionics/Electronics].

Re: Replacement Nokia N82 Housing.

Official parts are only available to order at nokia care points/service centres.

They may sell it to you or they may only sell it if they fit it.

If you fit it you will void your warranty. If they fit it then you will still have your warranty.

Re: Replacement Nokia N82 Housing.

Same thing happened to me 5 days after getting the phone. I had the screen protector on, but mine was a pressure crack that happened after I sat on it while is was on the bed. Honestly I weigh 130 and have a very soft bed, I think the thing is a bit too delicate. Did you ever get a replacement? cnn.cn has the full OEM for $90!

I'd suggest you get a crystal shell for your phone. I have one and there are NO scratches on it. They also don't weigh a lot and you can see clearly though them.
That's right people, I'm back. Where have I been? I have been getting a life, away from this electric madness.

Re: Replacement Nokia N82 Housing.

Here is a black replacement housing from Ebay, not recommending it but maybe if you go for it, u could let us know. But as said voiding your warranty is a pretty serious step to take.

My God , those Ebay links are as long as a story.

Re: Replacement Nokia N82 Housing.

All users should note that no current phone models are designed to have the covers changed by the end-user.

In order to remain protected by your phone's warranty, you should never disassemble the device yourself. Nokia Care points have tools specifically designed to open the phones without causing any damage. Opening the phones by other means would, in most cases, leave traces which would clearly indicate that the phone has been interfered with by unauthorised personnel; so even if the outer case is still a genuine Nokia part, you may not receive assistance for other issues normally covered by the warranty.

Re: Replacement Nokia N82 Housing.

DON'T DO IT!!! My N82 was in a pretty bad cosmetic state but as it was out of contract and warranty I thought i'd give one of those cheapy jobs from ebay a go. Now my phone is bricked! Useless. Changing the housing on this phone is way too invasive to be a quick cosmetic improvement. I have a choice now, pay a small fortune for my local Nokia care point to repair it or (more likely) get myself a new phone. A hard lesson learned being as I liked my N82. Still, the N97 looks like being my latest phone in a day or two.
