This is a damn cool feature, basically once you set it up, if you lose your phone you can lock it via text message!I feel much safer now, as I have insurance but you cannot insure your privacy!

For reference the default lock code on an unbranded phone is 12345, I suggest you change this. Be warned though, the default lock code could vary if your phone is branded so check with your carrier first!

1. Go to Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone mgmt. > Security settings > Phone and SIM card > Remote phone locking.
2. Select Enable and enter a “remote locking message”. This can be anything you choose, but must be at least five characters in length.
3. Enter a PIN code, you will need this to unlock the phone.
4. Test it by using another phone and texting your phone the “remote locking message”.

Yes. It does come with N97 along with a WaveSecure. Togather, both of them are great in making my phone more secure. Thanks Nokia !

How did you get this working on the N97?

I set mine up with the remote code of "locked", then sent a text message containing "locked".

It did NOT lock.

Any ideas??

While it does give you that warm, fuzzy feeling of security, it is in fact pretty much useless in the event of your phone being stolen. Why? Because the first thing a thief is going to do is remove and discard your SIM. Now how do you send an SMS to your phone if the SIM has been removed?

you have to set the option to lock phone if sim changes, too.

so if he doesnt switch it off, you can lock the phone with a short message, if he switch it off and on again, it asks for the sim's pin code or if the theft changes the sim, it asks for the phone code. so he can only let it switched on and change the profile to offline to don't get the locking message. do you mean a theft know this all?
