Please post your Nokia 5800 problems you have experienced here.

I am starting this thread as I have a problem with my 5800 and would like to know if anyone else has had problems with their 5800 and hopefully some issues can be resolved.


I have a problem with my display randomly changing colour, and when i lock the keypad, sometimes the the screen goes black (like it should) but the backlight stays on.

My NOKIA 5800:

-software version: V10.0.010
-custom version: 10.0.010.216.02
-type RM-356

mine had the loud-shrieking-can-not-make-a-call bug

but i was able to solve it by doing a quick full factory reset

just type in *#7370* at the dial-prompt, and dont forget to backup your data

My Nokia 5800 dropped onto a tape dispenser and the touch screen wont work.

I would say that this is more your problem than the phones. If it is not noticeable, maybe you can claim some sort of damage but I would not be surprised if they see it.

i mean the touch screen allows me to click on applications and it would highlight on the selection but when i try clicking it again it wont open the app so it is still somewhat functional but i cant use my phone in the sense that it should be used.

Please help. I am having "incoming call display" problem on my phone.
Yes, I do have call display feature with my phone provider.

The problem i am having is:

When I am receiving incoming call, my phone is displaying the caller name that's register with the phone provider, and not the name I customized on my phone book...

Anyone know why?

If you have two entries for the same number, the phone will not know which to choose. Example. If you have say Tom: 1234567 and then Tom Mobile: 1234567, the phone will not know which to choose and it will simply display 1234567. Try customizing your phone book better. Hope this helps.

pls need more info about 5800 :
1.if you do yahoo messenger through 3g, how long the battery will survive ?
2.can i install microsoft office editor software to 5800 ?
3.can i make a new folder to seperate my incoming sms,email and notes ?

If You want info on the 5800xm you can get it from: www.nokia-asia.com Click on support &software Download software. Click on the arrow next to the drop down box and scroll down to 5800. highlight it and click on it. There you will find manuals and info on the 5800

can anyone help me, i just got this phone and it turns off automatically in my pocket or when i move it in the air quickly.
is this a software problem or a battery problem.
anyway i sent it back to axiom and demanded an exchange but they said they have to take it to axiom and see it and blah blah blah, anyway i wasnt listing to them cause i couldnt understand a word that they say except "exchange" and im still waiting for a phone call or message from them like how they promised me.

I got my phone four days ago from Spain. Problems so far:

1) When changing display- and input-language to German the qwerty-layout of all three onscreen-keyboards stays in qwerty-mode instead of changing to qwertz (don't know if the same problem occurs for French users who should get an azerty-layout).

2) On the German Nokia website I searched for PC-Suite or OVI-Suite. Nokia presented me the download link for PC-Suite 7.1.18.0 on the 5800 support page. I installed this suite on a fresh Windows XP SP3, connected the phone via USB and was prompted to update the PC-Suite-Driver on the phone. I accepted and it was updated from 1.00 to 1.14. Since then the USB-connection always breaks up after a few minutes. It is not possible to sync Outlook or to use Maploader as the connection doesn't last long enough for those tasks to be completed.

3) Browser sometimes stalls on sites using Flash (try www.bmw.de).

4) In Nokia Maps that was preinstalled on my 5800 it is not possible to name a location. Whenever I tried to save a location there appeared an input field filled with the address but no keyboard. Or to put it correctly the mini-qwerty would be displayed for a split-second every time I tried to enter text which wasn't helpful at all.

My software version is 10.0.010.216.02.

That's it so far. More problems might be coming if I ever get to sync my contacts and calendar with the device and can start using it for real.

Actualy not a problem but...
I've seen in symbian-freak review that 5800 can use compatibility mode (virtual keypad) on older symbian application http://www.symbian-freak.com/news/008/10/nokia_5800__S60_5th_ed__backward_compatibility.htm
In those website even have demo youtube to configure the application... but on my phone it just was not there

I found a workaround for my sync problem: I simply synced my current contacts and calendar to my (more or less) broken 9500 and then synced it via bluetooth with the 5800. Works for the moment but a long term solution is still required.

My Nokia 5800 Keeps turning off when im not using it... Happened few times in my pocket and a few times on my desk. It seems someone else on the forum is having the same problem.. I hope its not a faulty phone, as I got it from Hong Kong, and I live in Canada. ;;
