Poll: Would you like Nokia to watch this forum?

Moderators: please read below.

I failed to find a better forum for this, so I posted this here. I'm planning to link this poll in other forums (E-series, Phones forum), so even if this forum isn't quite the the correct forum for this, please do not remove - or move - this (if that is by any means possible). That way we might get the best results and not mess things up : )

Thank you.... *prays*

Now then, the topic:

How many of you would like to have Nokia to at least confirm officially - by writing here for example - that they're digging in to the problems we describe here? And it doesn't have to problems all the time - other subjects count in too. There are countless bug list threads here that might be of interest to Nokia. I don't know if this will ever happen but he should try.

This applies to the whole Discussions site, not just this particular subforum. It's in common knowledge that Nokia Discussions is a user-to-user forum, meaning that officially Nokia staff does not take feedback through it. We've all meen reminded about contacting Nokia Care if we want support directly from Nokia or to tell them about the problems people are having.

The problem is, in my opinion, that most of the time the Nokia Care works slowly (I know they must be really busy so it's not their fault by any means) and might not give the best possible help regarding some puzzling firmware bugs for example. I've even had a Nokia Care staff member misread my mail and answer with completely irrelevant copy-paste instructions a week later.

Knowing that Nokia would investigate some of the problems reported here would lessen the flood of messages to Nokia Care. On the other hand, people often try to solve the problems by themselves because they feel that Nokia Care is a bit ineffective - I know I feel this way - but that way Nokia might never get to know about those problems.

So, what do you think? Should Nokia - hypothetically - pour some money/resources in watching their own discussion forum more closely?

I totally support this. there are so many rumours on these forums, it is always good when one of the Nokia employees pop up and make a comment . more input from nokia would be great.

I am convinced that a lot of what is talked abbout on the forum does get back to the senior people at nokia, it would be nice just to get some acknowledgement.

Of course it woudl be good if Nokia watched this forum, and replied to every serious thread, and gave us answers and solutions on a daily basis.

Not going to happen though.

This would be very very useful for nokia themselves, so they can understand and know the problems and then fix it rather than working all by themselves

Re: Poll: Would you like Nokia to watch this forum?

They already watch this forum.

The moderators have stated many times in the past that this forum is regularly monitored by many nokia employees all over the world.  It's been that way for years.

The moderators also compile lists of common issues and pass them on to the relevant departments each week.

What doesn't get passed on is the non-constructive posts, the rants, the moans, the troll posts as these are not helpful.  All constructive criticism is passed on so the key to this forum is being constructive.

The reason that nokia employees don't answer all of the questions here is because it would totally change the nature and point of this forum.  The whole point of this forum is so that users can help each other, not a direct line to nokia.

@psychomania: That's great, but we should definitely then refrain from telling the forum users that this is strictly a user-to-user forum. Something like "While Nokia employees do watch this forum, you'll get your point more efficiently across if you contact them directly."

Obviously the users don't know this.

Naturally, that doesn't change the way things work out (or don't) with Nokia Care. I'm also in doubt about the point going across through that route.

EDIT: I'll just add that as a musician I'm more or less active at a certain official Yamaha forum and they seem to have quite some active feedback going between Yamaha employees and their user base. They're actually quite famous for this compared to other manufacturers.

Yes - I would like that Nokia staff was on the forum more oftenly, and that they could give feedback to posts and users.

Re: Poll: Would you like Nokia to watch this forum?

Yes it would be a good idea to know that issues and problems have been noted by nokia but as Phsychomania says this is a user forum and not a Nokia support site so to expect answers from Nokia would not be appropriate here.

I also agree with phsychomania, the whining, **bleep** and general nokia bashing does not help users at all and is totally counterproductive and as such is bound to be ignored by Nokia.

If the forums were used as designed, ie for users to provide help and advice to each other, then perhaps Nokia would feel more inclined to comment from time to time.

They don't participate in the daily discussion, but you can be sure that there a lots of Nokia Peeps reading what goes on here and making a list.

I think it is OK that they don't participate - but it would be cool if they would chime in from time to time or larger more frustrating issues.

To the moderators: Honestly, this is good info. I've got no problem to be proven wrong if it really is like you say. You guys could actually have extinguished quite a few flaming threads with this info alone. If you send Nokia information on a regular basis, I wonder if it would be possible to tell the users whenever you're doing that, to put their minds at ease?
