Guys is it possible that two phones will have same product codes???????

i am using N79 RM-348 with product code 0573961 then how come the same product code for this person too......

i found this on the discussions today.......

The product code is not unique, it refers to a regional or network version of the software of the phone. The IMEI number is your unique serial number.

and the firmwares are released according to the product codes so,if i update my phone before this guy does will that person will be able to update his phone........

Because they are different versions. If a model is available in more than one colour, it will also be a different product code. Why are you worried about this?

actually i was shocked to c my product code in the discussions today when i never kept it anywere here..........

Johnny, product codes are not unique - there might be 10,000 phones with the same product code.  It is sort of sub-category of model, if you like.

The serial number is the unique identifier for your phone, not the product code.

There is nothing secret about product codes, nor is there meant to be.

As posted previously, firmware updates are released for a product code or products codes.

So if a firmware release is made for the product code on your phone, those 10,000 other owners will also get it - yet a person with a different product code may have to wait for another release.

Does that make it any clearer?
